[Name]'s POV
I turn my car off and look to my side at my father. "This is the place, right?" I ask while gesturing to the food shack on my left.
Dad nods and gets out of my car, shutting the door behind him and walking across the street, almost getting hit by a car. I face-palm and shake my head before turning in my seat and looking at Connor in the backseat. "I'd ask if you'd like anything, but androids don't need to eat," I chuckle with a sheepish smile.
"I appreciate your consideration though," Connor says and I look over to see my Dad talking with the guy running the food shack.
I open my car door and step out into the rain, shutting it behind me and watching as my Dad turns to talk to another guy whose name I catch to be Pedro. Connor gets out of the car and stands beside me, and we watch as my father pays the guy after the discussion of gambling.
"Dammit, Dad," I sigh and walk across the street.
Connor follows after me and dad looks at him. "What is your problem? You don't have to follow me around like a damn poodle," my father states.
Connor looks away from him before tilting his head to the side. "I'm sorry for how I behaved at the police station. I didn't mean to be unpleasant," the android says.
Dad smiles some and chuckles a bit, turning slightly to face Connor. "Wow... you even have a brown-nosing apology program. Guess the guys at CyberLife really did think of everything, huh?"
Connor doesn't respond, but I smile- happy that my father is finally being somewhat friendly. "Here's your order, Hank," the owner of the food shack says, and hands him a sandwich and drink.
"Thanks, Gary." Dad nods and takes the food, before walking over to a table.
"Don't leave that thing here," Gary points at Connor, and I huff.
"Come on, Connor," I say, and we walk over to the table Dad took.
"Dad," I state and he looks at me as I frown, "are you doing illegal gambling again?"
"Yeah," he admits with a nod as if it's not a big deal.
Connor seems slightly surprised at how willing he was to admit to it, but I just shake my head before looking at his burger. "Dad, that can't be healthy for you."
"[Name]'s right, it's not. Your meal contains 1.4 times the recommended calorie intake and double the cholesterol level. You really shouldn't eat that," Connor tells him.
"Well, everyone's got to die of something," Dad says and I look at him rather hurt.
Dad takes another bite of his sandwich, but Connor looks at me with slight worry and hesitates, but rests his hand on my shoulder. "Are you okay?" he whispers and I nod,
"I'll be fine..."
Connor looks back at my dad and rests his arms on the table top. "This morning, when we were going for those deviants... why didn't you want me to cross the highway?" he asks.
"Why didn't you want [Name] to cross the highway, Connor?" Dad retorts and the android looks at me beside him.
"She could've gotten killed."
"So could you!" Dad says and I smile faintly, able to distinguish the worry in his voice. He notices how the line came out and he shakes his head, "and I don't like filling out paperwork for property damage."
"You care," I say between fake coughs.
Dad turns to me and narrows his eyes. "What did you say?"
