I shook my head, "I knew Marcus was up to something!" I rounded on Kirk and Spock, "I told you he was acting suspiciously and you two ignored me!"
"Yeah yeah," Jim said, "Chew me out for it later." Then he turned and ran towards the turbo lift, "Astrid move him to the med bay and post six of your officers on him!"
"Then meet us on the bridge!" he said as the doors closed.
"Oh no," I said, turning to face Khan, "I'm not letting this murderer out of my sight."
I called eight of the security officers, rather than six, and together we took the prisoner to the med bay. The officers formed a circle around Khan as he sat nonchalantly on one of the beds. All eight of them held large phasers, the kind that didn't have a "stun" setting.
"This man is responsible for the death of hundreds, including many of our comrades in red," I told the officers. "Keep a close eye on him...And if he tries to escape..." I paused. "Shoot him," I said nonchalantly.
"Should I be concerned about this?" Bones muttered, appearing next to me.
"I just don't want anyone else to die on my watch," I replied, crossing my arms.
Khan looked at me with a smug grin, "Oh but Miss Watson, I thought you were finally warming up to me."
"Quite the opposite actually," I hissed, turning to watch the screen showing what was going on on the bridge. I could feel his cool stare against my back. It was unsettling.
"When was the last time you changed your bandages?" Bones asked, looking sideways at me.
"Before I went to bed," I answered. I sighed, "Thank you for sending that stuff up to my room."
He shrugged, "You don't like it down here so I wasn't going to keep forcing you to come."
"Do you need more medication?" he asked.
"Negative," I muttered, still determined to ignore dull throbbing pain.
Suddenly a massive ship, many times the size of the Enterprise, rocketed out of warp and came to a stop in front of us.
Then all of us in the med bay watched as Admiral Marcus admit to walking Khan up, although he still claimed that his whole scheme was just for defensive purposes. I still struggled to believe that. No matter how good at it they thought they were, humans really are terrible at lying.
"I'm going to tell you one last time, son, lower your shields...and tell us where he is."
"He's in engineering, sir," Jim sighed, "But i'll have him moved to the transporter room right away."
"I'll take it from here."
Then the transmission ended and the screen went blank.
Mu communicator chirped and I flipped it open
"Astrid, I need you up here now," Jim said, "And that's an order this time."
I snapped the communicator shut and turned to my officers. "Alright, Farris, you're in charge," I said, looking to one of my top Lieutenants.
"Yes Lieutenant Commander," he replied.
I looked around to the rest of them. "You have your orders," I said heading towards the door. i stopped next to Lieutenant Farris, "Do not let him escape," I warned in a low voice before I walked out into the hallway and began running towards the bridge.
About half way there, I felt a sudden jerk as the ship rocketed back into warp speed. I couldn't help but grin, knowing that Pavel was able to fix the ship after all. I shouldn't have doubted him.
