Swan Best Friend The Imprint

Dawn's POV

Sam imprinted on me. He leaned closer to me and he gave a small kiss on my forehead. I subconsciously leaned forward. All too soon Sam pulled away. I let out a small huff of annoyance and Sam gave a small laugh. We walked back to Emily's place and Bella told me that we were unwelcome. I looked at Sam and he shook his head no.

"Bella what are you talking about? Sam told me-" I started before Bella interrupted me.

"What? What did he tell you? Cause Jake told me that he couldn't be friends with me because of him so what did Sam tell you that would change anything?"

"I can't; it's not my secret to tell.."

I quietly said goodbye to the boys and hopped in the car with Bella. She drove back to her place and I went into the kitchen to make dinner. Bella went upstairs to her room to do god knows what. I saw a giant black wolf sitting at the edge of the tree line. I went outside and the wolf walked away. I walked to the edge of the forest as Sam came out of the forest.

"Why did you tell Jake that he couldn't see Bella?" I asked.

"That was before she figured out the tribe secret. We as a pack must protect the secret that we shift and I was trying to protect that," Sam said looking down, almost guilty.

"Did you tell Jake that now that she knows he can be friends with her?"

"Yes..."

"But?"

"But he won't listen. He thinks that he is protecting her by keeping his distance."

"Why does everyone think that? First Edward leaves which causes Bella to go into a depression state then Jake brings her out of it and he tells her to go away and stay away. What's next?"

Sam wrapped his arms around me and I buried my head in his bare chest. He was like my own personal heater. I could practically feel Sam smile at my reaction to a simple hug. I stepped out of the hug and looked back at the house. I could practically feel Bella's stares at us. I looked towards the second story and I saw Bella looking at us. I felt guilty. I knew that she would see this as a betrayal and I don't know if I can tell her about imprints.

"Can we talk more tomorrow?" I asked looking back at Sam.

"Sure. See you tomorrow." Sam gave one last kiss to my forehead then ran back into the woods. I walked back to the house but turned back to see a big black wolf looking at me. I gave a small wave then walked back inside. I finished dinner and took some up to Bella. She wouldn't look at me so I just left the plate on her desk then walked back downstairs. I ate at the table and put the rest in the fridge for Charlie.

Bella brought down her dish and put it in the sink. I tried to talk to her but she ignored me. I finally gave up as Charlie came home. I told him what happened only without telling him the packs secret. He found an old air mattress and he cleared just enough room for the mattress in the spare room with his hunting equipment. I found a couple of old blankets and I put them on the bed. I told Charlie good night and I whispered night to Bella then changed into my pj's and went to bed.

Sam's POV

I watched from the woods as Dawn went back inside and served Bella dinner. I watched as Charlie helped her set up an air mattress in a second room. I was forced to leave my imprint to patrol for a redhead vampire. Around one a.m. I switched with Paul and instead of going back to Emily's I went to Dawn. I changed into the shorts that are tied to my ankle. I climbed a tree and looked in the window to see Dawn tossing and turning. I climbed into the room and gently shook her awake. She gasped when her eyes laid on me.

"Sam, what are you doing here?" She asked sitting up.

"I was coming by to see how you were and I saw you tossing and turning..." I trailed off realizing how creepy it sounded.

"Oh. Where did you go?"

"I had to patrol the pack lands looking for a redhead vampire."

"Vampire? I guess I shouldn't be surprised that they exist."

I gave a small chuckle. I noticed that her eyes were starting to droop before she would rapidly blink to open them. I laid her back on the air mattress and told her to go back to sleep. I turned back towards the window to leave but her hand caught mine causing me to turn back around. She whispered stay and I sat on the floor holding her hand as she slowly fell asleep. My eyelids soon became heavy and I made myself comfortable on the other side of the air mattress and Dawn rolled over and snuggled into my chest. I wrapped my arm around her and fell asleep.

Dawn's POV

I woke up sweating. I felt like someone had placed a heater directly against my back and left it on high. I rolled over to find the source of the heat and found Sam sound asleep. I gently shook him awake but he wouldn't wake up. I tried to move his hand from my waist but he wouldn't budge. I decided to do something bold and I kissed him. I felt his lips move against mine and I pulled away.

"What was that for?" Sam whispered trying not to wake Bella or Charlie.

"I need to pee and you weren't waking up," I said like it is a completely normal statement.

"Well if this is how you wake me up every morning I don't think I'll leave."

"Something tells me that if Charlie were to find you he would chase you out with a shotgun."

"Ye of little faith."

I let out a soft chuckle and told Sam that I would be right back. After using the restroom and brushing my teeth I went back into the room to find Sam still laying on the bed. I ripped the covers from his body and that did nothing. I got an evil idea and quietly left the room to get a glass of water. I snuck back in the room and just as I was about to pour the water on Sam's head he sat up and took the glass from my hands.

"Thanks." He took a big drink and set the glass by his feet.

"No fair. Stupid supernatural hearing," I muttered knowing full well that he can hear me.

"Now that's not nice. If it wasn't for my supernatural hearing I wouldn't have found you in the woods."

"Thank you for saving my life."

"You're welcome. I have to go, I can hear Charlie get up and I don't want to test your theory quite yet. Are you still coming out on the rez today?"

"Yeah. I think I might try and talk Bella into coming and talking with Jake."

"Okay. See you later." Sam leaned over and gave me a soft kiss on the cheek then one on the forehead. I grabbed him by the neck and pulled him to my lips. The kiss started out soft then turned more passionate. I pulled back before I ran out of oxygen. Sam gave me a peck on the lips then left the way he came in.
