The heels of Chloe's boots clicked as she walked into the FBI headquarters. She had been summoned for a new task, one to get her mind off of finding James, the absuive bastard who has been targeting her family. The bastard will die, one way or another.

Director Cain smiled when she saw Chloe. "We finally caught a break on Mario Lopez." She held up a file. The mob boss has a large organized crime ring. "We finally found someone who will testify against him." Chloe's eyebrows rose, "Really who?" They have been trying to get someone to testify for forever. Everyone either is too scared or ends up dead.

"Nikolia Dawson, his right hand." Cain said smiling. "How the hell did you manage that?" Chloe scoffed. Nikolia was a ghost. He hasn't committed any crimes, none that can be proved anyways. He slips through surveillance, even if people where staking a place out, he gets in and out without notice. The only reason they learned about him was one of Mario's lackies had a loose tongue. Unfortunately he ended up dead the next day.

"I want you to protect him at one of our safe houses until the trial." She told Chloe. Chloe nodded, "Will it be just us?" She nodded, "Yes. Mario has eyes every where, even in here. It's best to keep the amount of people who know to a minimum."

Chloe agreed, "So where is he?" "Downstairs waiting for you." She answered. Chloe took the file and left the office. James was in the wind so he'll have to wait. Right now this was a chance to stop drugs and human trafficking. Mario Lopez was going down.

She walked into the room Nikolai was sitting in and she nearly stumbled. He was sin in skin. Definitely not someone you bring home to meet the parents. Or over protective brothers. Chocolate hair hung in his eyes and was shaved on the sides. Gages the size of nickles in his ears. Tattoos covered his arms and part of his hands. He had some scruff on his face that made him even sexier.

"Nikolia Dawson?" She asked, her voice confident despite the rawring lust throbbing in her core.

His saphire orbs looked her up and down. "Who wants to know?" He asked. "The woman who has custody of you." He scoffed as he stood, towering over her. "That's the best joke I've ever heard." She glared and did a manuever that had Nikolai's chest hitting the table, his arms pinned behind his back. "Like I said, you're in my custody. Play your cards right and I won't make you my bitch." She whispered seductively in his ear.

She then let him go, turning on her heel, walking out. "Come on, the safe house is a long drive." He watched the confident sway in her hips and it made him angry and hard. Fuck, he thought in anger as he followed her, hands stuffed in the pockets of his jeans. He had to admit, she was sexy. But she was his opposite. She was good, he was bad. He has killed, lied, and stole to survive. She probably had a good life with money to live on her whole life. He sneered at that and got in the passenger seat of her Ford Fusion, not saying anything.

He eyed the necklace around her mirror. It was one of those puzzle necklaces, when it was put together it would read partner in crime. He didn't let himself wonder who had the other half. Instead he looked out the window. She drove him to an adorable two bedroom house. "I need to grab some things. Come on."

He followed her inside and looked at the inside. There wasn't anything personal here. It was clear she slept on the couch instead of in a bed. A cork board hung on a wall with strings, pictures, and papers on it. It was clear she was hunting someone. Her coffee table was also covered in papers, pens, and files. Her trash in the kitchen was filled with take out, clearly she didn't eat or live healthy.

She came out with two bags, not saying anything as she stepped out of the house. She locked the door and then she was driving to his apartment. She checked it out, making sure no one was there before letting him inside. He found it insane but she was doing her job and he wouldn't argue that.

He packed his clothes, the stashed cash he kept in the floor board of his closet, and the picture of his mother. He was good to go. He wasn't coming back to this place. Once this was all over he was going to travel and find a new place to settle, to start over. He needed it, after what he saw, he couldn't stay anymore. He was a bad guy, not a monster.

"Have you eaten?" She asked him. "What does it matter?" He asked her with a gruff. "Well it's a twelve hour drive, and I won't be making many stops." He nodded, "Whatever." She rolled her eyes, "You know that doesn't really tell me anything. It was a yes or no question. I would've also been okay with you telling me you simply aren't hungry. No need to be an ass."

Nikolia looked at her in shock. Never had anyone spoken to him the way she has. Especially so many times in the same day. She was clearly insane, he thought as he looked out the window. "Before you try pulling that bad boy bullshit with me, I'm telling you now. I haven't made any judgements from the way you look." She told him as she drove. He scoffed, "Doubt it. How many have you arrested that look like me?" "Many but we all choose how we look. Many of my family members are covered in tattoos and piercings yet they're some of the most down to earth people. The woman across my street is a religious nut who judges everyone. She glares at me because I wear skimpy clothes when I go out jogging, not caring if I was covered I would die of suffocation." Nikolia slouched in his seat with a sigh, does she ever shut up?

She smirked, happy she was getting on his nerves, maybe this protection detail won't be so boring.
