It's Not Rocket Science [James x Reader]

So James has just met you and you were walking along lower Route 8 to get to Cyllage city when suddenly a women in a red bikini and had a pokeball in her hands stopped them. By the look James saw when he glanced over to you told him that you knew this woman. Your hand went to your belt and you went ahead and grabbed your pokeball. It was Dwebble cause Dwebble has a great ball, you held a premier ball.

"Let me guess, you want to bombard me into a battle Marissa?"

So this woman was named Marissa. Her grin widened, then she happened to notice James standing next to you. James just smiled and awaved awkwardly at her. You know, hate kind of wave where you just barely lift your hand and move it side to side a tiny bit. Marissa put her hands on her hips, looking at James up and down. Then she looked over at you with a smirk and an eyebrow raised.

"Washed up on shore. Who are you, Ariel?"

You scoffed at her and rolled your eyes. You just sent out whatever Pokémon was in the purely white pokeball. A leafeon graced itself to the presence of him, you, and the woman named Marissa. Leafeon cried out a lovely cry and saw Marissa. Then Leafeon got into stance, ready for battle. Leafeon apparently already knew the drill.

"Hey, James, why don't we double battle this? I'm sure Inkay could use  good stretch."

Marissa lit up at the idea. James did too. A friendly battle?  Not a battle to steal Pokémon, but Justice a battle between friends for the sake of fun and for the pokemon's sake. Leafeon turned and saw James. Leafeon voiced a small greeting before getting back in position. Marissa did just throw out a Masquerain after all. Speaking of Marissa, she cupped her hands and called out to a man fishing along the shoreline. Fishing, that was fun.

"Shad! Come on! Have a double battle with me!"

She waved cheerfully towards the man, apparently named Shad. The man stood up and happily complied. James couldn't help but just grin. Everyone here was just so warm, accelting, fun, and maybe even a little wacky. If he didn't know any better, this whole thing was a dream and he did wake up in the morning cuddling Meowth and sleeping right next to Jessie in some deadname forest and the Meowth balloon is stuck in a tree. 

"James, you never agreed to the battle or not."

You dragged out your words in a half sing-sing tone. You bounced up on the balls of your feat, rocking a little bit. James looked away from Shad and Marissa back to you. He had a big, confident grin. You had to admit, confidence looked really good on this handsome, lavender haired stranger you found on the beach. Well, more like Dwebble found on the beach. That silly Pokémon he. You watched James grab the pokeball from his belt. Without another word, he turned around and threw it, sending Inkay right back out. Inkay cheered and floated around, full of energy. Then he looked back st you with a smug look.

"How's that for an answer?"

You just nodded, excited. You both turned back around to see Shad sending out his Staryu. Alright, so he went for Staryu. Inkay And Leafeon versus Staryu and Masquerain. This should be a verly fun battle for both parties. Shad and Marissa were holding hands, ready for anything. Well of course they were holding hands! They're engaged after all. Just some trivia for you NPC lovers.

You both stood in front of the engaged couple Shad and Marissa. Marissa knew better than to allow you to have the first move, but since you had someone she's never seen on your side before she thought she would give you the honors. She gestured for you to go first. You smirked and called out your first command.

"Leafeon! Use Leaf Storm!"

James caught on quick, knowing it was their turn for Offense first. He had to think. Staryu was a pure water type and Masquerain's Bug Type is super effective agaisnt Inkay to a multiple of four. He needed that Masquerain gone. Brilliant! 

"Inkay! Use Slash on Masquerain!"

Inkay was boosted forward with the leaf storm and was too quick for Masquerain to dodge. Staryu was hit with leaf storm just as much as Masquerain, but Marissa's Pokémon took even more damage with the powerful slash attack from Inkay. Inkay flew back after the leaf from into position. It was their turn for the defensive. Masquerain And Staryu we're both already close to fainting.

"Masquerain! Use Silver Wind!"

"Staryu! Bubblebeam on Inkay!"

Silver wind hit both foes and both Pokémon were weak to Bug Type attacks. James didn't know what to do. Inkay, just like Shad's staryu, didn't know any moves that could be used fir the defensive during this turn. Inkay as probably going to faint, just like every battle he partakes in. Another loss for James. But wait, there's more.

"Leafeon! Counter it with Light Screen!"

Oh right, light screen can be used as a defensive move. Status effect moves can be used during any turn. James smirked.

"You too, Inkay! Use Light Screen!"

With the double light screen, the special attack from the move Silver wind was brought down dramatically. Inkay survivied with half of its HP and Leafeon went down a third. But that wasn't all. Both light screens dropped and James completely forgotten about Staryu's bubblebeam. The move hit and Inkay was down to its last HP. Inkay looked like it was in a pinch. He may just start to cry! James bit his lip. They were back on the offensive. This should be it.

"Inkay use psybeam on Staryu!"

James called out. Psybeam should cause Staryu to faint. You smiled and called out your own order for your lovely Leafeon.

"Leafeon use leaf blade on Masquerain!"

The psychic type attack hit Staryu dead on, causing the inexperianced Pokemon to faint. While Masquerainw as focused on Staryu, it was hit with Lefeon's leaf blade and fell to the ground, floor, fainted as well. Inkay hovered back over to James and weakly nuzzled his face. James was about to put him in a pokeball when you threw over a bag with sitrus berries in it.

"Here, for Inkay."

Names smiled and pulled putnone at a time, filling I Kay up until his HP was full. Marissa and Shad both had their Pokemon return. Leafeon rubbed agaisnt your leg affectionately. After giving her some nice pets like a kitty cat you had a Leafeon return as well. You flashed a wide smile at Marissa and Shad.

"Thanks for the double battle! You two may want to hit the Pokémon center."

Marissa and Shad were already three steps ahrwad of you and rushing towards Cyllage city. Bikini and all for Marissa. You just giglged and turned to James. He was a lot drier and whatever breeze was on the coast knocked off some of the sand in his hair. Still, you wanted him cleaned up, fed, and in some fresh new clothes.

"Come on, James. We should head back to my place."
