Chapter Twenty Nine
I seriously have no idea how these 'galas' go. I assume it's just a dinner with some talks and dances but apparently that's not how TUA does it. The 'some' talks turns out to be ALOT of talks. Is it even necessary to have 10 million people as guest speakers? And they're speeches seem to be 50 hours long so...
I almost fell into my foie gras, not gonna lie. The speeches lasted for about 2 hours in total and it was a big pain in the ass. My butt cramped up twice but at last, it was done. The whole table sighed in relief.
"Wow, a heck of a speech that was." Niall says, sipping the glass of champagne infront of him.
"I'm glad this is the last time I'll ever be attending a gala." Louis says, slumping on the seat. I chuckle and excused myself to go to the bathroom. Yes, I'm a mess just by sitting there for 3 hours.
I washed my hands when I got in the bathroom. It smelled like barbecue sauce and liver. I ran a hand through my hair just to get the tangles out and reapplied my mascara, eyeliner and lip gloss. Just then the door swings open and Carrie walks in. How cliché, huh?
"You didnt talk much..." She says, digging into her purse. "Lost your tongue in the ceremony?" She asks, applying red lipstick on.
"What do you expect me to say?" I ask her only getting a shrug as a response. "I didnt have to say for anything." I tell her.
"So how many times have I deliberately said said I'd expose you? More than your fingers could count, Meg. Have I done any of those? No I haven't."
"But you're getting there." I cut her off. She chuckled and leans against the sink.
"If you forget about your bitterness towards me, then I might stop. If not then.. You know the answer to that." She says confidently.
"I've trusted you once and that was it, alright? And I don't know what you're trying to do with Niall and you're fooling everybody with this goody goody act of yours but not me. I know what you are." I hiss at her. A smirk forms on her face.
"Of course you do. I know exactly who you are too." As much as I hate to admit it, she's right. Somehow.
She takes a step away when the door swings open and a small group of girls walk in. I recognize them from my classes. 3 of them are from my ITC class; one of them has a crush on Vlad, I swear.
"Meg! Hey!" Sarah's her name and she always talks to me in a chirpy way.
"Hey, Sarah." I say, smiling as best as I can. I'm trying to ignore the fact that Carrie's right there.
"So you're really done, huh? I heard you got in Walden's? That's huge!" She says, holding my hand. We're not exactly best buddies but we're somehow friends, I guess.
"Thank you, Sarah... Hope you have a good junior year" I tell her.
"Not a problem. I guess you're stuck with Carrie then? She got in walden's too." She says with a shrug. I look over to Carrie whose head snaps in our way at the mention of her name.
"What a coincidence." I say but I was looking at Carrie, not Sarah.
"But I hope I'll see you around the campus sometimes. Don't forget to visit, alright?" She says.
I assure her I will in my spare time. I told Sarah I had to go back outside. She let me go easily and I head back to my seat. When I got there, Louis was laughing his head off. Actually, the whole table was. Carrie sat down a few minutes later after I did and asked what happened while we're gone.
"What's going on?" I ask Louis who's still wiping his tears.
"You made the lab explode?!" He practically yells and couldn't stop laughing. I take a glance at Perrie who winks at me before sipping her wine.
