In the Shadow of Doubt. [ Reaper x Reader ]

"..and that's the time I punched Reyes in the face on accident!" Cassidy concluded his story with a laugh. Gabe grumbled something along the lines of "...cut him off..." as soon as Cassidy was done laughing. She looks at Cassidy and slowly takes his drink. "I think you've had enough.." She says with a concerned look. "Darlin' I'll stop if you order a drink. You haven't had anything to drink yet tonight! That just ain't natural." Cassidy tsked with a shake of his head. She laughs "Some of us aren't raging alcoholics." She looks at Reyes, hoping he would be on her side. What she wasn't expecting was to see a smirk form on the Commander's face. "Cassidy may be right for once.." He said as an idea formed. Cassidy seemed to be just as shocked as she was. "I am?" He said, blinking in surprise. He looks back at his drink that was currently by [Y/N]. "Maybe I do need to be cut off..." He mumbled to himself. "One drink, that's it." Reyes said as he motioned for the bartender. Genji cleared his throat "You usually don't agree with Cassidy... Any reason why?" He had a mischievous look in his eyes. Reyes shoots him a sharp glare, causing Genji to chuckle softly. She sighs, giving in. "Fine. But only one."

That one drink turned to three. She was about to order her fourth when Gabriel grabbed her arm. "We need to leave... Now." His words were firm and he was tense. Cassidy, Genji, and [Y/N] looked at him in confusion. Genji followed Gabriel's gaze and immediately became just as tense. "What's the problem Reyes? Too much for ya?" Cassidy joked with a slight smile. "Talon." Genji hissed out firmly, causing the smile to fall from Cassidy's face. He curses under his breath, his hand going to his Peacekeeper just in case. Genji's hand slowly moves towards his blade. "At ease. Let's try to get out without a fight. Too many civilians." Gabriel whispers in a commanding voice, receiving a nod from the two agents. "Cassidy, you and Genji try the main entrance. I'll take [Y/N] out the back since we left our weapons on base." He says in a firm tone. "We'll meet a few buildings down, by the car. Remember to act casual for once Cassidy." This made Cassidy snort slightly. The two armed agents slowly get up and head towards the front. She noticed five strangers get up and follow them. "Good. They didn't recognize me. Cassidy and Genji should be able to take them out just fine. Let's head out." Gabriel says as he helps her up and out the back.

They got to the car with no trouble only to see that Cassidy and Genji weren't there. "If they don't show up in the next few minutes I'll go and find them. You need to stay here no matter what happens." He says firmly and she nods.

A few minutes had passed and they still didn't show up, causing Reyes to curse under his breath. What kind of trouble could they have possibly gotten into? Just as Reyes was about to head out to find them, they heard three words that made the Commander sigh in relief.

"It's high noon."

They heard five loud gunshots before finally seeing Cassidy helping an injured Genji to the car. "One of the men shocked Genji while his back was turned. Sure was one hell of a lucky shot." Cassidy grunted as he put Genji in the car. Reyes stayed silent as he got in the driver seat. [Y/N] was worried for Genji but she knew he would most likely be ok. No one said a word on the way back to base, they were just as worried as she was.
