kihyun chuckled and checked his phone. "i do have... do you need to make a phone call?"
"i was going to call my mom but maybe she's sleeping... i'll call her tomorrow." she said as her eyes widened when the food arrived.
the rest of the dinner boki spent it thinking about why kihyun would lie to her. if they were in a relationship, he shouldn't be lying to her face like that.
she understood that maybe jooheon wasn't his cup of tea. maybe they had issues and maybe they weren't interested in being friends and brothers with each other.
but that didn't give him the right to lie about such thing. maybe he didn't care about jooheon but what about her? didn't he care about her, enough to lie to her that way?
the only thought hurt her. she felt it as a dagger between her chest.
losing all appetite, she excused herself from the table, saying she had a strong headache.
kihyun naturally worried but she insisted that she could return by herself to the rooms. boki felt like she couldn't stay a minute more around them because she felt like crying when she tried to find a good reason why kihyun would lie to her.
they were going to play in the hotel's casino after the dinner and she didn't feel like playing right now.
instead, she walked back to their rooms, taking the elevator and arriving their floor she felt like she could breathe again.
even though the tears menaced to spill from her eyes, she stopped on her tracks when she noticed a weak body, trying to walk as he leaned on the wall.
"jooheon?" she asked, tilting her head as his back made it difficult for her to see if it was actually him or just someone who looked like him.
but just then when his body collapsed on the floor, she saw his side profile and immediately knew it was him. "jooheon!" she exclaimed, running towards him and looking for his face.
he was pale, with dark circles around his eyes and completely sweaty. "oh my god... you're burning." she said worried, looking around, trying to get some help.
but the hall was empty and even though she screamed for help. nobody came. "what happened to you? are you alright?" she asked, but he had his eyes half opened and he was mumbling things that she couldn't understand.
"we need to get you to a bed now. what's your room?" she asked but he didn't answer anything. instead, she looked for his pockets and finally found the number of his room.
"302" she said opening the door.
as she could, she managed to drag jooheon inside, even though he looked light, he was really heavy.
and with an extra effort, she managed to put him on the bed. quickly as she could, she removed his jacket and one of the two shirts he was wearing along with his shoes.
she removed his hat and went inside the bathroom for wet towels and the first aid kit. "what happened to you? can you talk? should i call a doctor?"
"s...sugar- i need- he mumbled as his body started trembling. boki's eyes widened as she turned to look at the bar in the corner, quickly she looked for a candy bar, opened it and gave it to him.
he chew weakly, as he could but still looked weak. she cleaned his face with the wet towel and put the other one on his forehead to lower the fever. "here drink some water. i think you're dehydrated."
his lips looked pale so as the rest of his face. "should i call a doctor?" she asked but he quickly shook his head. "no." he simply said.
boki obeyed. she stayed still, looking inside the first aid kid to see if those things could help him.
she felt his hand grabbing hers in that moment and she quickly stopped looking and turned to look at him. "don't go." he said with his eyes closed.
boki swallowed hard as she felt her heart racing and her temples throbbing. "it's okay. i am here." she mumbled, leaning closer to him.
and with that, he fell asleep.
she looked down and noticed his hand was still on hers and she didn't dare to move at all.
she noticed his hand was big and rough, it was calloused and boki couldn't help but wonder if it was product of all the different kinds of jobs he have had in the past years.
even though it wasn't as soft as kihyun's, it was definitely endearing to the touch.
quickly she shook her head as she shook those thoughts away and with a swift and soft move, she freed herself from his grip. she stood from the bed and sat on the chair next to him.
glancing at him in silence, she realized he was actually very handsome. he had a different kind of handsomeness from kihyun's.
jooheon's was more rough and raw. he had big wide eyes with full lips and even chubby cheeks while kihyun's was more elegant and delicate, with his pointy nose, seductive lips and strong jaw line.
they both were handsome, in different ways.
she sighed as she stared down at his sleeping figure. he seemed to at peace and she couldn't believe it was the first time she had ever seen him this quiet before.
the thought of him having low sugar worried her since he told her he only needed sugar and wondered if maybe he was diabetic or something similar.
boki felt like she should call a doctor and even if jooheon asked her not to, she grabbed the room's phone and dialed to the lobby, asking for a doctor for him.
she needed to be sure that he was fine and there was no way to know it since he was sleeping.
either way, she didn't want jooheon to be suffering it again and there was no way to know if it had really been a low sugar case.
so she waited until the doctor arrived and stayed with him through all the checking.
his conclusion was that he surely have had low sugar and that it probably had been given because of an ear infection.
doctor said it was probably because of bathing in that river. he left medication for him and quickly returned.
boki stayed worried as she tried to woke him up but jooheon only opened his eyes while the doctor was there, through the entire checking.
she wondered if she should wake him again but thought it was better not. he needed to rest, so she sat next to him on the bed, her eyes fixed on him.
the sad thought of him being so distanced from kihyun popped into her mind and she couldn't help but feel how cool would have been for the both of them to be good friends and brothers.
"i wish one of you would tell me what's wrong..." she whispered as her hands looked for his forehead. she quickly noticed his temperature was now normal.
she sighed as she checked the clock, it was really late now. "i should go back... call me if you need anything." she said taking his phone from the pocket and saving her number.
"i saved my number. just call if you feel bad again." she said leaving his phone next to his hand. with that, she stood from the bed and walked silently towards the door and out of the room, not without glancing one more time at him.
he looked to be peacefully sleeping so she breathed out in relief.
just when she was about to close the door, she jumped when someone surprised her. "boki-yah? " kihyun's voice echoed in the hallway as he stopped on his tracks with a big frown on his face, while he was trying to open the door of his room, across jooheon's.
