"What if something happens in surgery?" My voice broke.
"Mitch," his voice came out almost a whisper. "If she dies in surgery, that's on the doctor, not you. You did everything you could."
What he said should have made me feel better, but it didn't. "I umm," I stuttered. "I gotta get some air."
"Rapp," he called out as I walked away. I turned around and sighed. "We aren't going to lose her. I promise."

Luckily, Olivia's surgery went well. After being in surgery for almost three hours, they stopped her internal bleeding and sewed her up. Although the surgery went well, she slipped into a coma and has spent the last five days in the ICU.
Even with Hurley claiming I was her fiancé, I wasn't allowed to see her. Instead, I was forced to sit outside in an uncomfortable chair, waiting.
"Rapp," Hurley said as I started to fall asleep. I woke up to see him kneeling in front of me.
"How's Olivia?" I perked up.
"Go to the hotel."
"How's Olivia?" I asked again.
"Same as yesterday. Rapp, go to the hotel. Shower, get something to eat, get some sleep."
"Sir," I sighed.
"Olivia wouldn't want you to. . ."
"Stan," I interrupted him. "I have to be here when she wakes up."
"Two hours. Go back for at least two hours. I promise I'll be here the whole time. If anything changes, I'll let you know."
I was about to object again when he let out a small laugh. "Don't make me order you," he said as he turned around and walked towards Olivia's room.

I went to the hotel after Hurley asked, but came back forty-five minutes before he had wanted me to. Ten days after Olivia's surgery and she is still in a coma.
"Hurley," I said making him look at me. "Something has been bothering me since the warehouse."
"You want to know how Olivia and I got out," he said like a statement instead of a question.
"Yes, sir," I nodded.
He hesitated before answering, "I couldn't do anything. I had to stare at my daughter and watch her bleed as I was chained to that damn machine." I watched as his breath got caught in his throat.
"I sat there for about two and a half minutes before I heard footsteps. When I saw the soldiers, I knew that Irene had sent them as backup. Usually, her stepping in on a mission like that would've pissed me off. Not this time. One of the men came to help me but I yelled at him to help Olivia first. They escorted us out. They took her to the nearest hospital while I came to help you."
"Why didn't you go with her?" I asked. He looked at me and sighed, rolling his eyes.
"If I had, you would've died. And if that happened," he sighed his eyes softening. "I knew that if Olivia woke up and found out you had died, it would've destroyed her. I had to go after you. For her."
"Sir, there's something," I started to say but he cut me off.
"I woke up right as you kissed her," he smirked. I bit the inside of my cheek, feeling like I was a teenager again.
"Sir, I. . ." I stuttered.
"Relax, kid. I may be her father but," he laughed. "I know that whatever is going on between you two is serious. Olivia has always shut people out. If she let you in, she must care about you. Besides, I heard the promise you made to her."
Suddenly his soft smile turned to a serious look. "Olivia," he sighed. "This isn't the life I wanted for her. When she was little, I made sure to keep her as far from here as I could. I kept my home life and this life separate."
"Until her mother was killed," I said softly, causing him to nod.
"I knew that someone was after my family, but I got there too late. I walked in the front door to see my wife dead and my daughter gone. What I haven't told Olivia is that it wasn't a coincidence that I found her. I was looking for her. I wanted. . . I needed to find her."
"Would you, if she asked, allow her to leave Orion?"
"I begged her not to join," he sighed. "I didn't want to train her. I even offered to allow her to live at the Barn but still live a normal life. I didn't want her to end up. . .like me. If she asked if she could get out, I would let her in a heartbeat. I would be nervous that she would still have a target on her back, but I would let her out."
"What if she went with someone who could protect her?"
"This your way of asking if you can take her away from here, from this life?" He asked.
"Yes, sir."
"Do it," he didn't hesitate to answer. "Take her as far away from this life as you can."

Olivia has been in a coma for over two weeks now. I had just walked back into the hospital lobby when Hurley came running up to me.
"You weren't answering your phone."
My heart dropped into the pit of my stomach. "Is she. . ."
"She's awake."
