"How much do you want for these?" Tyler asked, pulling out his wallet.
"I mean I paid $30 for them so..." Ryan trailed off. "Probably $30 so it's even."
"I'm okay with that," he took out a ten and twenty and gave them to Ryan, getting the small bag of gummy bear edibles in return.
"Did uh... Noah drive you here?" Ryan asked, setting the money on his kitchen counter.
"Mhm," Tyler smiled. "We were at this party and he told me to go ahead and drink as much as I wanted and he'd be the designated driver. He's completely sober."
"That was nice of him," Ryan mumbled, trying not to let his irritation show.
"He's perfect, Ry," Tyler gushed. "For our one year anniversary last week he bought me this signed Queen vinyl. I love him so much," he sighed happily.
"Didn't he say yesterday that your favorite yellow sweatshirt looked ugly on you?"
"He didn't mean any harm," Tyler shook his head. "He's jus' lookin out for me, Ry," he pouted.
"Uh huh..." Ryan trailed off. "How drunk are you?"
"I dunno."
"How many drinks did you have?"
Tyler paused. "I dunno."
Ryan sighed, rubbing his temples. "Okay, well. As much as I love you, Noah's probably annoyed waiting on you."
"Probably," Tyler shrugged. "I'll leave now. Thanks for buying these for me, Ry!" He pressed a light kiss to Ryan's cheek and with his edibles in hand, he began walking towards his friend's apartment door (the building currently being rented out by him and his girlfriend), opening it and shutting it behind him.
Tyler made his way down the hallway and in to the elevator. Ryan lived on the eighth floor out of ten so as soon as the doors closed he pressed the glowing button that displayed a one.
At floor five, however, the elevator stopped and the doors slid open. A man walked in, his dog in tow on a leash. They went to the opposite side of the lift and it was then that Tyler realized the type of dog the man had. A golden retriever.
Although his mind was fuzzy from the alcohol he had drank, he couldn't help but think about how familiar that type of dog was. He couldn't place his finger on it until it hit him. It was the type of dog Josh had.
The elevator reached the final floor and the doors opened, the man and his dog walking out first. Tyler walked out as well, heading out the doors to make his way towards Noah's car.
As he was walking, his mind was on Josh. Almost instantly guilt filled him. He shouldn't be thinking about his ex. He had Noah now. He loved Noah. Noah loved him.
Tyler didn't realize part of the sidewalk was slightly elevated and he tripped on it. He wasn't holding onto the bag of gummy bears very tightly and fell from his grasp. He watched in horror as the bag opened and they spilled all over the pavement. "No!" The brunette covered his face with his hands, sighing into them. Tonight was not his night.
He continued walking to his boyfriend's car and got in, looking directly in front of him out the windshield with a blank look on his face. "What took so long?" Noah asked, irritation obvious in his voice.
Tyler burst into tears.
"Oh my God," Noah mumbled under his breath. "What's wrong? Are you crying over him again?"
"No," Tyler shook his head. "I dropped my edibles."
"Why the hell are you crying? It's not like you don't have the money to buy more."
"I don't know," he cried out.
"You're so drunk," Noah sighed. "God dammit."
"I wanna call Jenna."
"Why? I'm right here. Do you not trust me enough to talk to me?"
"No I do," Tyler replied his a quiet voice, tears running down his face. He wiped them and rested his head on the window. "I'm sorry."
He heard his boyfriend sigh once again. "Look at me," Tyler turned his head and met Noah's brown eyes. "I love you."
"I love you too," he whispered back.
Noah leaned in and kissed Tyler roughly, his hand resting on the back of Tyler's head. They pulled apart and Noah glanced up at his hair. "Your hair looks good buzzed. I'm glad I told you to cut it. You look hot."
"Thanks," Tyler smiled. "So do you."
Noah smiled back. "You can call Jenna. Make it quick though. I wanna take you back to my house and fuck you until you see stars."
Tyler bit his lip to avoid giggling. However it didn't work, the small sound coming out seconds later. He always got giggly when he was drunk. Noah said it was annoying so he tried not to do it. "Sorry," he said, still smiling.
"Don't sweat it, baby," Noah replied.
Tyler pecked him on the lips one last time and grabbed his phone out, clicking on Jenna's contact and setting the call on speaker. It was a Saturday so hopefully she wasn't sleeping. His best friend answered on the third ring. "Hey, Ty! It's midnight. You okay?"
The smile left Tyler's face as he burst into tears again. He heard Noah groan in annoyance. "I bought edibles from Ryan and dropped them in the ground," he blubbered. "The spilled out onto the pavement. I can't eat them now, Jen. They have germies."
Jenna stifled a laugh. "Germies?"
"Yes," Tyler's bottom lip jutted out into a pout and wobbled. "From the ground."
"Is Noah with you?" She asked, hope in her voice.
"Yeah," he replied.
"Oh," the hope left her voice and was instead replaced with disappointment. "Hello, Noah."
"Hello, Jenna," he spoke, his voice bored.
"Hey, Ty?"
"Yeah?"
"Sarah needs my help with this project so I gotta go buy I'm really sorry about your edibles. Call me in the morning when you're not drunk off your ass. I love you."
Tyler was about to respond when Noah shot him a look. "Bye, Jen."
"Bye, Tyler."
He hung up the phone and set it back in his pocket. "Wipe your tears. You have no reason to be crying. You're just drunk," Noah ordered.
Tyler did as he was told and roughly rubbed the back of his hands on his cheeks. "'M sorry," he repeated, putting his seatbelt on as Noah started the car.
"We're still going back to my place."
"Okay."
Tyler just wanted his gummy bears.
