There's only three days left until they need to perform their song for their class. Tyler takes a deep breath and picks himself up off the ground. He picks up his phone that he tossed on the bed and goes to his contacts. He looks for the name he's searching for and dials it. After one ring, the phone is answered.
"Hello?" Josh's voice comes through Tyler's phone speaker. Tyler hesitates. "H-Hey, Josh." Tyler stutters out. Josh's voice is full of confusion. "What do you need?" Josh questions. Tyler takes a deep breath again, "Do you want to come over. We can plan the piano part of the song." Josh stays silent for a few seconds, "Yeah, okay. I'll be over there soon." Tyler nods, even though he knows Josh cannot see him. "Okay, see you soon." Tyler hangs up. He runs one of his hands through his hair.
A couple of minutes later, Josh comes running up the stairs and knocking on his door. He opens it carefully. Josh looks down at him and his face immediately forms a concerned expression. "Have you been crying?" Josh questions, hand lifting up and caressing the side of Tyler's face. His thumb lies on Tyler's cheek, and he softly wipes away any excess tears that were making his cheeks wet and glossy. Tyler glances up at him softly. Josh notices the pained expression, so he lets go of Tyler's face.
"Okay, I'll show you what i've got." Tyler states walking over to his keyboard. "Do you have any saved music things on your computer?" Josh asks, walking over to Tyler's computer. Josh sees him nod. He turns it on and sits down in the desk chair. Tyler sits down and turns around to check on Josh and to see if he's ready to hear what Tyler has come up with. He notices Josh in his desk chair, which causes him to have another major pain in his head. He closes his eyes and sees himself and Josh, in the same positions.
He watches himself place his ukulele down and smile sheepishly at Josh, his face flushing red. Josh chuckles, "What was that?" Tyler smiles softly, "A new song I've been working on, it's called, 'Tear In My Heart.' Someone gave me inspiration." Josh grins, "C'mere." Tyler gets up and walks over to Josh, Josh pats his thighs signaling for Tyler to sit on his lap. Tyler complies.
Josh kisses Tyler's cheek and cuddles him in his lap. Tyler can feel what old him feels; the feelings of being so happy and in love. Tyler opens his eyes, a frown on his face. Josh turns to look at him, "What's wrong, Ty?" Tyler shakes his head, now smiling. "Nothing. I'm fine." Josh raises an eyebrow, Josh doesn't believe him. Tyler turns back to his keyboard and begins playing.
Tyler finishes and immediately turns around towards Josh. "Thoughts?" Tyler questions. Josh grins, "Like always: I love it." Tyler smiles softly. Josh gets an idea, "Hey, how about we take your piano to my house and we can come up with the drums and piano together?" Tyler smiles, "Sounds like a plan."
They pack the piano into the car and hop in, Josh is driving. Tyler glances around at everything; Josh, their surroundings as they drive, the inside of the car. The all familiar pain comes back, forcing him to close his eyes.
He sees him and Josh, and even Josh's little sister Abigail in the backseat. He watches Josh slip his hand over to his own, which is laying on his lap, and intertwines their fingers. He sets their interlocked hands on the console, and rubs Tyler's thumb with his own thumb. Tyler feels something warm in his heart. Some how he knows this is one of his favorite things that Josh does. It gives him a calm, safe feeling. It's soothing, for both Josh and Tyler.
"Josh?" Abigail pipes up. Josh glances at her through the rear-view mirror, "Yeah, Abbie?" Josh asks. Abigail giggles, "Are you and Tyler together?" Tyler feels his eyes widen and his face turn beet red, and he sees Josh does too. "Yeah, we are, and we're in love," Josh states, squeezing Tyler's hand. Tyler grins and squeezes his hand back. Abigail awes at his answer.
Tyler opens his eyes. He stares at Josh in confusion. Him and Josh dated? When? He never knew Josh until the music class project happened. Did he? Tyler believes he is missing so much to this situation. There's more to this problem, this memory.
