Isabel POV
I woke to recall last night events and looking at the sleeping figure of James. He looked so peaceful, his auburn hair was messy, his features soft. I couldn't resist but move the bangs from his face and he stirred. Soon enough, clear blue eyes were looking directly at me.
"Light Sleeper," I said, unable to come up with an explanation or reason why he would do this to himself. "How are you feeling?" I said getting up; deciding to make breakfast.
"You are being sarcastic," James said roughly "How bad was last night?" I laughed baffled.
"Let's see," I said pointing out my fingers, "The vomiting, shivering, fever. What the hell did you pull last night?" I said slamming the cabinets shut in frustration.
"I am sorry Bel, I mean it. I lost a deal for Germany a couple of days after we broke up. From there on it was just messy and chaotic with me. I didn't know what to do, so I called you." He looked sincere but still a mess and I couldn't stay mad at him
"You are one of the most respected chefs I know. If you lost that deal then it wasn't for you." I stopped mixing the pancake batter and moved closer to him. I took his hand into mine making him look at me. "James you are hurting but this isn't the best way to go. I called, left messages, I wanted us to talk and move past it together." I looked up when the door burst open and Ryan walked in; I had forgotten about him. Ryan had sweat all over him, his eyes narrowed when he saw how close James and I were standing.
"I am going to take a shower." He said walking quickly past the both of us without another glance.
"I'll take care of breakfast," James said, getting up and nudging me to the bedroom door.
"What is wrong?" I honestly didn't know why he was making such a big deal out of this.
"You have time for me now? You guys fit perfectly, I saw you both together last night. " He said ranking through his closet and tossing his clothes on the ground. I moved from the door to him, dragged him by the waistband of his pants and unto the bed.
I sat on his lap and rummaged my nose on his neck. Inhaling his scent which was a mixture of expensive perfume and sweat. I dragged his face forcing him to look at me. We stared at each other his hazel eyes a mixture of hurt.
"I am with you right now. James needed help and I went to his help. You don't need to worry." I said sincerely, bringing my lips to his neck.
"You looked so comfortable with him." He said into my ear.
" We were together for half a year. Of course, I am comfortable with him. Right now I am sitting on your lap, not his." He smiled and I did too.
"For a really hot guy, you have jealousy issues," I said after a second. "I was not jealous of your ex-boyfriend." He said and I smiled and nodded. We emerged and James was putting out plates serving breakfast. He smiled when he saw us and I winked at him.
"Hey, man." He said and Ryan nodded. I nudged him in the side and he mumbled "Hi." It took them a few minutes to warm up to each other. They talked mostly about sports which I didn't quite understand.
James decided to leave after losing to Ryan at Dungeons and Dragons.
"First my girl now my game?" He said at the door and Ryan shrugged.
"He can't cook." I said coming to James defense, while Ryan glared at me " Do not do that, you know it's true." James smiled, at the door, as he promised to call and answer my messages.
"You are ruthless," Ryan said in a deep voice as I closed the door.
"You love it," I said as he moved closer to me "Let's take a shower."
