ADELAINE SHOULD'VE RAN AWAY FROM HIM. Her brain screamed at her to do so, but she couldn't. She could never see Michael as a monster.

And there's also the fact that she didn't want to hurt him even more. Meeting his eyes, she saw the tears gather at the corner of his blue ones. He reminded her of a kicked puppy. She knew that any sane people would've been scared of seeing someone look so demonic – but Adelaine wasn't. She wouldn't be scared of him, not now, not ever. So she did what her heart wanted her to do – she wrapped her arms around him tightly. Michael relaxed when their skin met, his hands circling around her waist as he nuzzled his head into her chest.

"You're scared of me," He stated when she loosened her arm around him, his eyes glossy.

Adelaine shook her head as she wiped away his tears, "I'm not scared of you. I'll never be scared of you." She pushed the hair way from his face, caressing the skin, "You did what you had to do, okay? But next time, promise me you won't kill anyone again."

The blond nodded his head, his voice shaky and weak, "I promise," He wrapped his arms around her waist again, "Just please don't leave me again."

Looking at the Langdon boy, she had never seen him so vulnerable – not when his grandmother died or not when she slipped and hurt herself. It made her heart twist and ache even more at the thought that the blond was scared of losing her more than ever, especially after he accidentally revealed his true self to her. The ginger realized that a part of him will always need her no matter what happens. To be honest, she needs him too and nothing would change that, not even the fact that he was the Devil's son.

Adelaine caressed his wet, golden locks, pressing a soft kiss on top of his head, "I won't, Michael. I'll always be here for you."

They stayed in that position until the sun disappeared behind the mountains and the sky darkened into a midnight blue color. The ginger helped Michael off of the ground and guided him towards their room, so they could both sleep the night away. A lot had happened already and it had been a long day. When they finally got into their room, Adelaine tried to convince him to change his clothes, but he refused to let her go. He was shaking a bit, his swimming trunks still a bit wet. Laying him down on the bed, she kissed the top of his head doing her best to comfort him as he trembled. She was the big spoon tonight, humming softly as she heard him sniffle. Adelaine knew that all she had to do was show him that she will always be there for him no matter what. And sometimes, actions and silence are more than enough. Sometimes, one thing a person needed was to be assured that someone cared for him. And that was what Michael needed.
