Then why didn't you? (Chapter 8)

Start from the beginning

Petra's voice echoed in Mikasa's head as she was halfway in the hallway.

"He can kill you, okay! He has seriously killed a lot of people. Mikasa, I know this is hard to believe, but trust me, he's bad news. If you don't believe me, then I don't want you to end up in a grave to finally believe it, please, just stay away from him!"

After Petra's voice was gone. A strange feeling was starting to develop in her chest as she was getting closer to the end of the dark hallway.

Fear.

Mikasa snapped out of it and remember why she was down here in the first place. Which started to make her feel angry again.

A mixture of fear and anger at the same time. But, she would rather die than admit that tint of fear she felt at that moment.

Mikasa started to slow down as she saw a dead end. And, there was a isolated cell on the side. It was the only the cell that was located underneath the hospital.

It made sense that doctors didn't want to put Levi near the rest of the patients. So they decided to put a cell underneath the hospital just for him. So he won't do harm to the other patients.

Back to reality. Mikasa walked closer to the steel door. She was surprised that the steel door to his cell was slightly open.

Mikasa went closer and placed her hand on the steel door and lightly pushed it open for her to see inside.

She was once again surprised as she saw no one in sight.

She looked around the room without entering. There was a small table facing the wall, a chair, and aside from there was a bed.

But, she didn't see the thing she was looking for, but later was relieved when she recognized her red scarf laying on his bed.

Mikasa decided to enter the small room, but no one was in the cell except for her. She started to wonder where the strange man went. He was just here a few moments ago.

Mikasa dismissed the thought and approached the bed. And there was her precious scarf. It seems that he did nothing to it, other than steal it from her.

Mikasa leaned down and grabbed it. She checked it to make sure he didn't rip it or anything. Luckily, there was nothing, it was fine.

Mikasa grew a small smile as she remember the memories the scarf contained. Memories she will never forget. Especially the person who gave it to her.

"Eren..." she mumbled softly.

"Mikasa..."

His calm voice echoed in her mind.

She smiled once more and proudly wrapped her scarf around her neck. Then, something on the wall caught her eye. She leaned closer to get a better look. Turns out, it was old blood stains. Just like in the hallways.

And just by that, she was back to reality. She then remembered that she was in a monster's room. But the monster was nowhere in sight.

Mikasa turned around to leave. But, as she did, Levi was already by the door with his arms crossed, looking at her with his dark blue eyes.

She could tell that he was annoyed by her presence, "What the hell are you doing here, brat?"

Mikasa didn't hesitate on responding back, "Getting something that belongs to me"

"That filthy thing" he referred to her scarf. She later approached him and was a few inches away from him. And she showed no fear, "If you ever touch my scarf again, I'll show no mercy. But I guarantee you'll end up in the same results just like you put those people in"

He looked into her cold grey eyes as she spoke. "I've heard what you've done here. And I'm not scared of you" she said.

He remained silent.

After Mikasa thinks she gave him a clear message. She started to walk pass him and leave.

As she passed Levi, he grabbed her by her wrist, preventing her from leaving. And later pinned her against the wall.

He had both his hands holding her against the wall. He leaned closer to her ear and whispered, "Not so tough now"

Mikasa groans as she tries to free herself from his grip.

"You're lucky I didn't end you a few days ago" he told her. Recalling to the time when he followed her to the cafeteria, having a kitchen knife in his hands.

He could've killed her, but he didn't.

"Then why didn't you?" she asks.

That question got him off guard as his grip on her began to loosen a bit. His expression seemed to be wondering why as well.

Mikasa took the opportunity to slip out of his grip and walk away.

As she walked away, she turned her head to see if he was following her. He wasn't, instead he watched her leave.

Mikasa looked away and left.
