Oliver's filling me in with some details he found out while in the break room. I scolded him for going through the classified files when we're told not to, giving me a stern look.
"We could lose our job, you pinhead!" I tell him and he snarls.
"They were a load of poo, Meg. Those files have been in there long before I even graduated university. It hasn't been opened in a decade."
"well there might have been a reason why those files haven't been opened." I defend myself.
"They were in the print room and the cabinet didn't have a lock. Anyone can go in the print room and scan those files. What is up with you?" he tries to sound mad but I know he's joking. The stern look on his face slowly falters and breaks into a smirk. "You never let your hair down." he says. I roll my eyes and lean on the backrest. A thunder sounds and brightens the sky just as I do.
"I've let my hair down way too many times. It got me suspended for 2 weeks."
A flint of amusement crosses his face for a second. He must be eager to know what kind of trouble I've gotten myself in to.
"what'd you do?" he asks in a teasing way, scooting closer beside me.
I sigh and ran a hand through my hair. "I... Gas-jacked my English teacher's car..." I say like it was nothing. Olive raises his eyebrows like he detected that I wasn't telling the truth. He was right.
"you can barely start up a car, let alone gas jack." he says then laughs. "what, exactly?"
I shake my head and let the thought sink in. "I snogged a chemistry teacher." I say through gritted teeth. I wait for Oliver's sermon or sarcastic remark but it doesn't come. He stays quiet until I've open my eyes. Shame is written across my forehead, making my cheeks turn bright pink.
"You must have been a real prize." he says, his voice flat but the amusement on his face says otherwise.
"Must have?" I tease, raising an eyebrow at him.
"If I said you're really fit right now, you might think I'm hitting on you."
I chuckle and nod. "You already did."
"Exactly. But I'm glad I said that..." he says with a smile. This conversation suddenly turned personal.
"You do?" I ask.
"You've got it all. Talent, creativity, personality, dignity, brains, morals, ability to be casual around awkward situations and you're really fit, don't get me wrong. I'd hit on you if you weren't with anyone."
I did not expect that. I didn't know how or what to say so I sat there looking like an idiot. Its not like I have nothing to say, I'm just completely surprised. Well maybe I dont have anything to say but that's the least of my problems.
"I gues what I'm trying to say is," he says, taking us out of the awkward silence, "Louis is a very lucky guy. And as much as I like you,"
Again, I've been taken back.
"I respect your relationship with him because he looks like a guy who can take care of you... Most guys hate being friendzoned," I laugh at his remark. "but if that's the most I can get, I'll take it."
"Thank you, Oliver." I say casually.
"That's why I hope you guys work things out."
Yeah I hope so too because not only our relationship's on the line here, but also the loss of a dad this kid I'm carrying is going to have. So yes, I do hope we work things out.
"For your kid's sake."
I look up at him in surprise. He knows, how did he know? He laughs and leans back on the couch.
