I groaned trying to open my eyes, only to be welcomed with more darkness; every part of me protested in agony as I pushed myself off the dirt floor, I sat down in the dark and leaned my back against the wall.
I remembered the explosion.

Did my men get to safety?
Where am I?
I patted my pockets: Empty.
My weapons: Gone.
My bulletproof vest that protected my chest: Gone.

I was alone.

I wore my white muscle shirt, my pants and boots, it was so dark, I couldn't even see my hand in front of my face.
I felt around the walls, I felt a locked doorknob , I was in an uncomfortably small, empty, room. I waited for what seemed like an eternity. finally, a tiny ray of light came in through a crack in the ceiling: Day.
It was too high to reach. There was no movement, I estimated about three maybe four days passed. Maybe more, maybe less.
here was no telling how long I was unconscious.

Hayes

"Wheres, Y/L/N?" Hayes demanded.

"There was a grenade." Another soldier answered.

"We have to go back." Hayes ordered.

"Sir..."

They called it in, and were ordered back home.

They were flown back to the base in the United States, from where we were shipped out. They went for debriefing, when finished they went to retrieve their personal belongings.
Hayes took my belongings, as he quickly turned to leave, my phone fell out of my duffle and flew across the floor with a loud clatter, he slowly went to pick it up. Hayes examined the phone; seeing nothing had happened to it on the outside, he switched it on.
Missed calls and texts came on the dimly lit screen, all from Sebastian.
Hayes frowned, he never approved of me being his body guard, much less moving in with him. He switched the phone off and threw it hastily back in the bag. He knew how I felt about being involved with my team members, he never told me how he felt, and now, he thought I was dead.

Several days later, he turned my phone back on, more calls from Sebastian. He debated whether to give him the news...

The phone vibrated in his hands, Sebastian again Hayes debated, finally sliding the green dot across the screen.

"Hello?" Sebastian's voice came from the small speaker against Hayes' ear.

"She can't come to the phone right now." Hayes said.

"What? Where is she?" Sebastian asked.
"She..." Hayes paused, forcing himself to say the words, "She didn't come back with us."

The line stayed quiet.

"She's... d... dea... she's gone?" Sebastian asked finally.

"They think so.. I know you meant a lot to her." Hayes told him.

"What happened?" Sebastian demanded.

"A lot." Hayes said.

"Tell me what happened." Sebastian insisted.

"I think this should be said in person." Hayes told him. Hayes told him where they could meet.

Anthony was with Sebastian when he talked to Hayes, they both took the flight to meet him, and met in a small restaurant.
Hayes was already there, sitting in a booth with my bag in the seat next to him, Hayes planned to give my belongings to Sebastian.

It's been two weeks had since we were ambushed and I was presumed dead. He explained everything that happened, not caring what trouble he could get into by disclosing this information.

"But no one checked if she was still breathing." Sebastian said angrily.

"We saw her body, she hit the damn rocks." Hayes slammed his hand on the table.

"You could have gone back!" Sebastian yelled.

"You're not the only one who loved her!" Hayes yelled.
The restaurant had gone quiet and everyone stared.

Me
Week One

A slot through the door opened with a rusty scrape, letting something in, and quickly shutting.
I crawled to it and found a mug with liquid inside.
Water?
Could be poisoned.
It's been days since I've had food or water, I figured I'm already as good as dead so I chugged the warm water.

They would feed me scraps, just to barely keep me alive, it wasn't constant.

Week Two
(Lines up with Sebastian and Hayes in the restaurant)

It's been 4 days without food or water now. It's only a matter of time until they would kill me. The door opened suddenly, the bright light blinded me, three men walked in and put a black sack over my head, they bound my hands with rope in font of me, forced me up and walked me somewhere else. I heard muffled laughing and multiple people speaking another language.
They forced me to kneel on the floor, I heard several voices talking around me a bit quieter than before.
They took the sack off my head and I was again blinded by the light of day. My eyes adjusted, I scanned the room thirteen men stood around me, two on either side of me pointing their rifles at me, one holding a camera. I threw him a dirty look, while another man approached me, he said something in their language and they all laughed.
He spoke English to me- badly, and in a thick accent he told me to smile for all America to see my pretty face and it was streaming live. I rolled my eyes at him.

Sebastian

"It appears we have a live feed of a video by the terrorists group, ISIS." the news reporter said on the small tv suspended over the register while a video played.

Sebastian, Hayes, and Anthony, watched as two men forced a girl on her knees and took the sack off her face.
Sebastian recognized my face covered in dirt and dried blood from my face down to the side of my shirt from the grenade.

"She's alive." Sebastian whispered.
