➰Chapter twenty➰
I handed Jace the card with the Cup, smiling reassuringly. "Take care of this for me."
"Woah, woah. What are you doing?" He asked, returning it to me.
"Ensuring the Cup is safe if I don't come back."
"You are coming back," Jace said as-a-matter-of-factly.
I sighed. "What do you know about interdimensional travel?"
"Little bit!" I looked at him seriously, and leaned forward to peck his lips.
"It's time." Meliorn called for me, to which I nodded, walking in front of the Portal.
"Meliorn, I'm thankful for the help you're offering me, but if I find Valentine, I won't be able to face him alone." I said.
Jace nodded in agreement. "She'll need backup."
Meliorn sighed heavily, but nodded. "Alright. If you find the Portal, you may come back for him. Shadowhunters need Seelie permission to go through. Only demons can pass through unaided."
I nodded, and taking a deep breath, I walked through the portal.

I looked around, trying to remember where I was going. There was nothing around that seemed to trigger my memory, except for an abandoned church that seemed familiar.
"Where—where am I?" I asked myself, completely having lost any sight of what I was doing. An arrow point barely missed me, brushing against my cheek slightly. It seemed to have come from the church's direction. "What the—"
"Alec! Stop! It's a girl!" I heard a familiar voice say, as a girl with dark, black hair ran up to me, next to a boy who looked similar. Their names flooded my mind like a broken record. Isabelle. Alec. The girl paused in front of me, checking the bleeding on my cheek. "Are you alright?"
"Sorry about that, thought you were a demon," Alec apologized to me, and I realize that I didn't recall him ever doing that. "Did the Clave send you to inspect the Institute? I don't remember them telling us—"
"Alec. Izzy. What's going—By the Angel!" I heard a third voice, followed by three other people. My eyes scanned over all of them, feeling as if I'd seen them before, but not being able to pinpoint their names. It wasn't until I met eyes with the blonde guy walking towards me that it finally dawned on me. "Is she alright?"
"A little dazzled, but she'll be fine." Izzy said with a smile.
"Cup... Portal... Dimmension... Valentine..." I stammered, unable to process everything around me. It was difficult to not lose my train of thought.
"Woah, calm down. Who are you, and what are you saying about Valentine and the Cup?" Clary asked me.
I took a deep breath. "My name is Leah. I come an alternate dimmension, and I need your help to save Jocelyn."
➰➰➰
"Wait... So in this other dimmension, we are sisters?" Clary asked, while Izzy handed me a glass filled with cool water and tended my small wound.
"Yeah. And I need to find the Portal to find Valentine..." I frowned. "Wait, what about this world's Valentine? Could he be out there looking for you?"
Jace smiled, and I noticed one big difference he had with my Jace. His eyes weren't their usual blue, but instead were a pale, gold color that seemed completely alien to me. I caught him holding Clary's hand, and my stomach twitched with obvious jealousy. "Don't worry. Our Valentine is no longer a problem."
