A Broken Web

Gwen lies with me, her arm around my chest, and her head on my shoulder. We just lie there. Gwen is so close to me, I can feel her heartbeat. Every time I kiss her head, or pull her in closer, her heart skips a beat.

Soon, she has to go in for her Operation. When the Doctor walks in, and sees Gwen practically on top of me, asleep, he just stares at us. "Ummm........" I say, lost for words. I can feel my cheeks turn bright red. Gwen wakes up with a start. We both just stare at the Doctor. Her arm over my chest. My hand round her waist. Her leg over my foot. My hair a mess by her fingers ruffling through it. We look at each other, before Gwen reluctantly gets of me and lies on her own bed. "So Doctor...is it time for my operation?"

I await Gwen's return. I just sit there, and stare at the place where she lay. The sheets crumpled. Her heat still faintly there. Finally, she returns. The Doctor gives me a look of warning, and raises his eyebrows. "These curtains stay open from now on Mr Parker."
