"If you want these last moments to be remembered, yes."
"Fine."
The next morning, I realized that there were six days left until I left Chicago. "Good morning, sleepyhead," Clark said when he noticed I was awake.
"How many hours?" I asked him.
"Around nine," he responded, lifting me to a sitting position and kissing the top of my head.
"Shit, that's a long time," I said, "That's time wasted."
"Shhh. You're just overthinking it, darling," he said, putting a calloused finger on my closed lips. "Don't overthink things or else this week will go to shit."
"Don't tell me what to do, Baxtresser," I said.
"Oh, but I will Criss-Manion," he responded.
"How can I stay mad when you were so politically correct on my last name?" I asked, kissing him lightly.
"You can't because I'm that attractive," he responded. I hit him in the head with a pillow.
"Narcissist."
"Vain."
"Rude."
"I'm not."
"Don't make me hit you with a pillow again."
"I wouldn't mind."
"I know where Jeff keeps his musical encyclopedias."
"Fine! I surrender!" Clark said.
"Good." I giggled, noticing the look he had in his eyes. "Don't you even think about it."
"Think about what?"
"You know what and I wouldn't appreciate it!" I said, dead serious before I was shrieking with laughter. There was a knock on the door and Dylan entered.
"Good, no one's dead. Mini-Criss, call Middle-Criss he's very worried," Dylan said, leaving the room. Jaime snuck in after him.
"DareBear has no idea about what's going on with you two," Jaime informed us before closing the door and leaving.
"What's she doing here?" I asked Clark.
"She and Dylan are in a relationship. We don't talk about them. They're like teenagers," Clark explained to me.
"True," I said, letting everything pop.
"You're falling to pieces!"
"No I'm not," I said, shaking everything out. I disconnected my phone. "50?"
"50 what?"
"Missed calls from Darren," I said, calling him back.
"Luna, where the fuck are you?" Darren asked me. I covered the receiver. Where am I? I mouthed. Talking to Jeff about writing Clark mouthed back.
"I'm talking to Jeff about writing," I said.
"But why hasn't anyone seen you this morning?" Darren asked.
"I left at seven because I wasn't tired. Why do you sound so accusing?" I asked him.
"Because I don't know where my little sister is!"
"Well, I'm alive. You don't have to worry. See you tonight. I love you. Bye," I said, hanging up and letting out a sigh.
"Okay, I'll get you something to eat and then we need to get you home," Clark said. He left and returned a few moments later with a protein shake.
"Now I'm supposed to take care of you. So, have that and them I'll get you home," he explained.
"Thanks," I said, finishing it in under three minutes.
"Let's go," he said.
I arrived home, but I knew Darren was in there and I would be subject to interrogation. "I don't want to go in," I said.
"Yeah I wouldn't either if I were you," Clark agreed, standing with me about three minutes from Brian and Meredith's. "But we have to get you in."
"I'm going to call Mere via the home phone," I said, calling her.
"Hello?" She asked.
"Mere, thank goodness. This is Luna but I know Darren is going to want to interrogate me and I don't want to be subject to this so is there a way I can get inside without him noticing?" I said all in two breaths.
"Yes. Okay. Slow your breathing I can hear you panting. So, sneak in the back way. I'll text you when Robert is there and you can go there. I'll distract Darren. The thing is, you have to go straight into your room. Cool beans," Meredith said, hanging up. I looked up at Clark.
"I'll see you around," he said.
"Same here," I responded as he delivered a feather-light kiss. I quickly got to the back of the house. Get in NOW! I obeyed the text and was smuggled into my room. Robert closed the door behind himself.
"I know where you were last night but why did you come back at-" Robert checked the time. "Eleven in the morning today?"
"We had trouble sleeping and I know I didn't feel relaxed until at least one in the morning. Who knows when I actually fell asleep," I said.
"So you didn't...you know," Robert said.
"No. I would never even imagine it," I said.
"Thank goodness. I thought that was why you're late," Robert said, covering me in a hug.
"I wouldn't even tell you if I did. You know me. You know when I'm lying," I said.
"I know you better than you know yourself. Come on, why don't you shower so you two can spend time together and you can avoid Darren," he said.
"His interrogation," I corrected my cousin with a grin, "And I also have to wash my hair, so it'll take longer," I said, grabbing some clothing and showering.
Once I finished, I braided my hair in a side braid. It looked pretty okay, so I put on some shorts that weren't high wasted and a crop top. I got myself looking presentable and less tired when I returned to my room. And Darren was awaiting me, his arms crossed.
"What do you want to know?" I asked, shutting the door behind me.
