The Next Night

"Damn it." I muttered as Nate, Sully and I walk up to the entrance of the castle. "Still can't reach either one of them." I said as I put away my phone. "Something is definitely not right." Nate said. "How long 'til this place opens?" Sully asked and Nate looks down at his watch. "We've got a few more hours before the tour buses start showing up." He replied. "Then we better hustle." Sully said and we walk up to the door and see the chain hanging very loosely on the door handle.

"Chain's been cut." Sully said as he looks the chain over. "Okay, so we know we're not the first ones here." Nate said while Sully opens the door. "As long as Marlowe and Talbot think we're dead, we've got the element of surprise." He said as we enter through and he shuts the door. "Let's not waste it, then." I said. "Right. So we sneak in, we find out where they're holding Chloe and Cutter." Nate said. "If they're holding them." Sully grumbles. 

"Glass half full, Sully?" Nate said, questioning. "I'm just saying these guys don't seem like the hostage-taking type." Sully said to him. "Let's just go with best-case scenario for now, okay?" I said, looking between the two men, as we walk. "We rescue Cutter and Chloe, and the five of us just sneak back out." I said as we walk up to a gated door. "Yeah, right. Sneak back out." Sully mutters. "It could happen." Nate said, hopeful, and Sully just hums at him.

"Up this way." Nate said as he starts to climb up and around the gated doorway. "Come on up, Sully. It's clear." Nate calls out to him after we get up on a platform. Then we start to walk along the bridge and towards a large wooden door. "Okay, I'll climb my way around and let you two in when it's safe." Nate said. "All right." Sully said. "You sure you don't need me to come with you?" I asked. "Hey, you're still nursing a gunshot wound in the shoulder. You need to rest it as much as you can." Nate said and I rolled my eyes. "Okay mom, whatever you say." I teased and he rolls his eyes back at me and started to climb up then around the corner. Then he was up higher and got inside through the window. 

"You know he worries about you." Sully said to me. "Yeah, and I worry about him." I replied just as we heard some gunshots inside. "What the...?" I started to ask when we hear Nate say. "Okay, it's clear." Sully pushes the door open as I asked. "What the hell you've been doing?" 

"Uh....the usual." Nate said as I look around to see a few dead men around the floor. "Come on, help me with this." Nate said as he walks over to a giant wheel. Sully runs over to the other wheel and the two men start pulling on the wheels, making the door bridge fall down. "Come on, this way." Nate said and we start to run towards a gate and run inside if this dungeon like area.

Nate jumps a small gate and grabs onto a bucket that was hanging by a rope. "Lower me down." He said and I go over to the crank and lower him down. "Anything down there?" I called down to him. "All right, give me a sec. I'll check it out." He said then Sully and I run out of the room and head to another room with a locked gate door. We look through the bars and could see Nate on the other side. "Nate! Over here!" Sully calls out. "Back up! I'll shoot the lock." Nate said and he shoots the lock.

"This place is crawling with agents. Chloe and Cutter could be in real trouble." Nate said as we meet up in the room. "Where the hell could they be?" Sully asked as we run into another room. We heard footsteps coming towards us and we pull out our guns only to see Cutter and Chloe, who also had their guns out.

"What the hell?" Sully exclaims.

"Why aren't you in France?" Chloe asked us.

"We're rescuing you?" Nate said, questionable.

"From what?" Cutter asked.

"We thought you'd been captured....or worse." I replied.

"Wait, why?" Chloe asked. "Well, Talbot ambushed us at the chateau. It was a trap." Nate replied. "Yeah, we figured they must've followed you, too." Sully said. "Well yeah, they're definitely here--" Cutter said. "Yeah, no kidding. So we might want to think about keeping it down a little." Chloe replied.
