'Where could such a beautiful creature come from?'

You wonder as you gaze upon the gentle serpent. Despite its beauty, it looked exhausted, frail, and close to being ill. You extended your hand to reach out to the snake, and it slithered onto your palm and curled up in your lap; which was surprisingly warm to the touch. Its eyes remained closed. Suddenly, a crack of thunder boomed in the sky, destroying any silence.

You shook in fear and stood up, the snake sliding off your lap; you knew you couldn't stay here. Police would pass on patrol or vandals could come here. You sat back down in exhaustion while resting your back against the cold wall behind you. Your eyelids felt heavy and you felt too tired to be afraid of the storm, so you shut your eyes tight; you forgot about the snake. Before drifting to sleep, you heard a faint voice.

"If you could restart, would you? Would you desire a new life?"

You pondered those words. Assuming they were a thought, you murmured a 'yes' to yourself. The black your closed eyes envisioned morphed into green swirls, encasing itself around the black. You snapped your eyes open and you were slowly drifting into an emerald abyss. Neither able to move or breathe, you let your body drift along the rifts. Your body felt light and airy, and you continued down the unknown path. You stopped abruptly at a chaotic ocean. The sky roared loudly as the sharp waves crashed against the steep rocks.

The air was cold, and the water that splashed against you was frigid in temperature. The rocks were so cold that your feet began to become numb and small cuts formed on them. You looked down to see the color draining, almost mimicking hypothermia. There you stood, alone and frightened. The rock you stood on was the tallest of the bunch, rough and sharp. You peer over the edge to see the murky green water swirl into a circle and pull in the surrounding debris.

You feel your body gravitate forward and over the edge and before you have time to react, you're thrown off and plunge into the deep water. Shockingly the water wasn't cold, and warmth engulfed you. Your vision began to fade and black swirls clouded what could've been seen.

You wake up with a jump and sit up strait. You're not in the frightening environment you were in before; rather, you found yourself in a small shrine. The air felt pure, welcoming, and sweet. You rubbed your sore eyes and slowly stood up from the soft mat you laid on to explore the unfamiliar land. You cautiously step towards the open door, and stared at the bright moon. You looked back and saw neatly folded clothing near the mat you slept.

You picked up the articles of clothing and smiled. They were warm, soft traditional Japanese clothes. You quickly stripped off your soaked clothes, folded them, and put on the new ones. But before you put on the new clothes you saw a strange mark left all over your right arm.

You were puzzled and quite worried for a moment, but decided to ignore it and put on the clothes, which made you feel warm and safe. You turned back to the open door and stepped out less cautious, and much more curious. There was a beautiful plum blossom in bloom. You walked towards it. It was so pretty...but. Aren't plum blossoms out of season right now? You gently touched one of the bright blossoms with your index finger and smiled.

"Ah, I see. You're finally awake."

A cheery voice behind you said. You spin around to the unexpected.
