I woke up to the sounds of an alarm and a guard shaking me.

"Miss Y/N! We have to go!" he said, making me sit up immediately.

"What's happening?" I said, still half asleep.

The guard ran over to get my robe and my slippers. He helped me put them on, and he picked me up bridal style since I was not cooperating.

"There's a Rebel attack, Miss. We have to go to the safe room now!" he said urgently.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and closed my eyes. "This is still a dream, right? I'm still... dreaming, right?"

The guard pinched my leg, making me open my eyes and glare at him. "Ow! What was that for?" I asked, trying to jump out of his arms.

He looked at me. "To prove that this is not a dream, Miss. We have to-"

"Wait, this is real? Someone's really attacking?" I asked, everything sinking in.

I'm so stupid! I thought. This is what I get for loving to sleep.

I quickly jumped out of the guard's arms, and he shot me a confused look. I grabbed his wrist and started to run, wincing every time I heard someone shoot their gun.

"It'll be faster if you don't carry me," I explained, looking back at the guard.

The guard nodded and started to sprint, him in front of me. He pulled me towards the safe room where the royal family and contestants were.

"Wait. What about Layla, Fawn, and Evelyn?" I asked, panic in my voice.

The guard looked back at me. "They're already in their safe room, Miss. They're alright," he assured me, making me let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank you," I said to him.

He nodded and pulled me towards a wall.

I looked around for a door, but I couldn't find it. I looked at the guard in confusion, and he smiled.

"It's over here," he said, pushing a section of a wall and revealing a door. He put in the code and opened the door for me. "In you go."

I looked back at him and smiled. "Thank you, Officer," I said.

He nodded, and his cheeks were slightly pink. He bowed and turned around before running off with a gun in his hand.

I turned around and was greeted by someone tackling me into a hug.

"Y/N! Oh, I was so worried! You were the only one missing, and you didn't come for more than half an hour... I was scared something happened to you!" Marlee said, hugging me tightly.

I hugged her back. "Well, I'm here now!" I said cheerfully.

Marlee pulled away and looked towards the door, concern all over her face.

I raised my eyebrow. "Are you waiting for someone? I think everyone is here," I said, confused.

Marlee stared at the door for a few more seconds before looking at me. "No, no, I'm just... watching in case a Rebel comes. Yeah, t-that's what I was doing." She laughed nervously and twirled a piece of her hair around her finger, making me even more confused.

"But there are guards outside the door," I said.

"But someone could still get in," Marlee countered.

"There's a code on the door."

   "Someone could break the door."

"The door is made of metal and is easily over fifty pounds."

"Someone could... Someone could..." Marlee's eyebrows furrowed as she tried to think of a reason.

I put my hand on her shoulder reassuringly. "Marlee, no one is going to get through that door. Or, at least no Rebel. It's going to be fine," I said softly.

Marlee took another glance at the door before nodding. "Yeah. Yeah, you're right. No one's gonna get through that door; no one is gonna get hurt."

I heard her mumble something, but I could only make out "safe" and "Carter".

"Did you say something?" I asked.

Marlee's eyes widened, and she quickly shook her head. "No!" she said a little too loudly.

The other people in the room looked at her, and she cleared her throat.

"No, I didn't say anything. Why do you ask?" she said, laughing nervously.

I blinked. "Oh, okay. I thought you said something." I laughed in order to ease the tension in the room.

Marlee laughed with me, but her laugh seemed a little forced.

   "Girls!" Sylvia scolded.

I apologized softly and looked around the room. The king and queen were huddled next to each other on the couch while Maxon paced around the room, his hair a little messed up. The other girls in the room took a spot either in a chair or in one of the tiny beds in the walls that kind of looked like beds in a Japanese capsule hotel.

Maxon turned his head towards the door, and his gaze landed on me. His eyes lit up, and he walked towards me and embraced me.

"There you are," he said softly. "I was so worried."

He let go of me after a few seconds, and he quickly examined me for any injuries. "Are you alright?" he asked softly, tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear.

   I nodded. "I'm alright," I said.

I glanced over his shoulder and saw Kriss glaring at me. I quickly looked away.

"Here," Maxon said, guiding me to one of the capsules. "You and Marlee can stay here."

I went into the capsule and Marlee followed; the space was big enough for both of us.

"Alright then," Maxon mumbled. He smiled at me and kissed my forehead softly, making a few girls gasp.

"Thank you," I whispered, making him smile and ruffle my hair.

   "Anything for you, love."

I blushed and tried to hide my blush while Maxon walked away.

Marlee snickered behind me. "I feel like I have a guess on who's gonna be the princess," she whispered, making me shove her playfully.

"Shut up," I said, blushing even more.

Marlee looked at the door again. "Y/N... Can you keep a secret?" she asked softly.

"Yeah? I mean, I guess so," I said, unsure.

Marlee opened her mouth to say something, but she quickly closed it. "Never mind. Forget what I said." She waved her hands in the air, making me chuckle.

"So... you won't tell me your secret?" I said, pouting.

Marlee rubbed her chin as if she were thinking really hard. "Hmm, maybe later. You know, when there aren't people around," she suggested.

I chuckled, and she stared at the door again.

"But I can assure you... You will be very surprised."
