Leafpool's Decision - What If Book 3 {DONE}

Leafpool purred. "The kits are gorgeous."

It had been three moons since Leafpool and Crowfeather left the Clans. They had set up 'camp' near the old Twoleg bridge. Since they didn't need to care for their clans, life was easy.

"I wonder if Ravenpaw and Barley's lives could be easier than this," Leafpool contently sighed.

"Maybe. They live in a barn where there's prey everywhere." scoffed Crowfeather.

"I guess, but this place is getting small. Maybe we should move to the Horseplace at the edge of Windclan territory? There'll probably be food everywhere!" Leafpool suggested.

"Maybe when the kits grow older, but right now, they are too young to travel."

"Birchkit made the journey as a kit. He didn't die."

"Still, he was like four moons old. Our kits are barely a moon old!"

"Fine, we'll wait until they are old enough to travel. Then we'll take them to the Horseplace

Hollykit was bored. Her parents, Crowfeather and Leafpool were taking her and her brothers to a new home with lots of food and shelter.

"C' mon guys! Let's go exploring." Hollykit prodded her brothers.

Lionkit grumbled, "It's way too late and remember what mom said about Jaykit? He can't see."

"I still have ears though." Jaykit was awake and staring at them with his blank blue eyes.

"Wanna go exploring?" Hollykit asked again.

This time her brothers said yes.

"Let's go to that small stream. We can see if we can catch fish!"

All was well until Jaykit smelled a weird scent. "Guys! Strange cats! Hide." 

The kits all ducked and saw three cats pass by.

"I smell rogue." a black growled.

"Do you see anything?" a  gray one cautiously asked.

"No probably just a stray passing through."

As the cats walked away, the kits sighed with relief.

"Those cats were stinky." Lionkit mewed with a pinched face.

"C' mon," Hollykit snapped, "the stream is right there!"

"Last one there is crowfood!" Lionkit shouted with delight.

As the kits hurried to the stream, Hollykit smelled something weird."Guys, what's that?"

A pair of hungry amber eyes were staring at the kits.

"Fox!" Jaykit yowled in terror. 

The kits bounded across the stream into the forest.

"Help!" Hollykit wailed. The fox was gaining on them.

The kits were so busy running that they didn't realize they had neared a sheer drop.

As the kits tumbled down, they saw dens and smelled cats.

"Fox!" yowled Lionkit as the fox leaped into the clearing.

At that moment, a bunch of cats flooded into the clearing.

They saw the fox and leaped onto it.

The fox snarled as it realized that his 'easy snack' wasn't so easy to eat now. It bounded up the cliff and ran away.

"Who are you three?" 

The siblings turned around and saw a dark ginger she-cat staring at them.

"Please don't hurt us! The fox chased us across the stream and we fell into this pit! Our names are Hollykit, Kionkit, and Jaykit," Hollykit answered with fear in her voice.

"You caused some commotion. Luckily, now cats were hurt. Our medicine cat, Cinderpelt was injured by badgers. I'm Squirrelflight by the way."

Squirrelflight and Cinderpelt! Hollykit heard about them. Leafpool had told them that Squirrelflight was her sister and Cinderpelt was her mentor.

"I know about you and Cinderpelt! Leafpool told us all about you guys! This is Thunderclan, right?"

At the mention of Leafpool's name, Squirrelflight seemed to brighten up.

"You know her? Is she okay?" Squirrelflight flooded them with questions.

"Duh! We know Leafpool. She's our mother! She's okay.  We lived near the Twoleg bridge near Riverclan and we were going to move to the Horse place at the edge of Windclan territory!" Hollykit answered Squirrelflight.

"Hey, Squirrelflight, who are these kits?" a light ginger she-cat padded up.

"Mothe! These are Leafpool's kits!"Squirrelflight squealed.

"Leafpool's? Squirrelflight, get Firestar." the ginger she-cat ordered Squirrelflight.

"Yes, mother, "Squirrelflight answered sarcastically.

"Who are you?" Jaykit asked.

"I am Sandstorm. I'm Squirrelflight's mother." The ginger she-cat informed them.

"Leafpool also told us about you," Lionkit told her.

"Yes. She is my kit after all."

"Hello. I assume you three are Leafpool's kits. I am Firestar, leader of Thunderclan. I see you were chased by foxes and accidentally found our camp," a ginger tom spoke to them, "How did you get here from the bridge near Riverclan?"

"We went to the stream to explore but the fox chased us over the stream and into the forest! Jaykit squeaked.

"Well then, you guys are staying here until your parents come to take you home."
