Chapter 24:

Adrian's POV:

I woke up in a cold hospital room, the silence only being broken by the repetitive beeping of my heart monitor. I sit up and instantly my vision starts to blur and I have to lie back down again not wanting to risk passing out. The last thing I remember is forcing my exhausted body along with the two burly soldiers with my wounds still bleeding. I must have collapsed because I have no recollection of coming to the Hospital Ward. A small woman walks in with a clipboard in hand, I recognise her but can't remember her name.
"Hey Adrian, I'm Maria I'll be taking care of you whilst you recover if you cou-"
"Where's Ella?" I interrupt rudely. She looks taken aback.
"Ermm I'm not sure if I'm aloud to tell you that" She stutters awkwardly.
"Look just tell me where the hell she is!" I say my heart thumping, I've only just woken up and already my body is filled with adrenaline. She looks around as if to check weather anyone else is in the room, which clearly isn't the case then turns to me.
"We'll she's been placed in a cell just for the meantime and you will be joining her in court today to discuss the whole case, look don't act like you know this when Cedric comes to collect you ok? I don't know how he'd feel about it" She says anxiously. My stomach churns at the thought of Ella alone and scared in one of those disgusting padded cells, she doesn't deserve this she's been nothing but good from the day I met her and I feel so guilty almost as if it's my fault. Luke. He did this too, I thought he was cool until I found out he was a psycho, he must have been the one to alert Cedric of what was going on. Cedric was already suspicious after finding out she was missing and then noticing me staying in the cabin, so I'm sure he wasn't entirely surprised.
"Thanks for telling me" I croak grumpily. She sits on the edge of the bed and starts to evaluate my condition, examining and redressing the wound.
"How are you feeling, you lost quite a lot of blood" She asks.
"Alright" I say bluntly.
"When can I leave?" I ask sharply. She looks offended.
"Um I guess now.. But you have to come for a check up everyday until I say so, to tend to the wound" I nod and start to get up. I realise that I am in a hospital gown.
"Er where are my clothes?" I say trying to sound more polite, because I'm starting to feel guilty about being so rude to this poor girl.
"Oh um there just in here, sorry we had to wash them they were filthy from the woods" She says slightly nervously. I take the clothes and give her a small smile, I start to undress and look over to see her blushing and quickly exiting the room. I chuckle. Once I'm dressed I thank Maria and start to walk towards the area I work in, but I bump into Cedric and he quickly pulls me aside.
"Oh no I don't think so... You're coming with me young man" He says arrogantly. I roll my eyes, I'm not afraid of Cedric I know he's a horrible person but he's always treated me like a son and let me get away with things most others wouldn't. But right now he seemed pretty annoyed. He led me to his office where I was startled to see Ella handcuffed to the desk. She looked scared, her eyes were wide and the purple circles underneath them empathised the colour of her honey coated chestnut eyes. As soon as she saw it was me though she seemed to relax a little the tension in her shoulders slightly relaxing. Cedric motioned for me to sit down in the chair next to Ella's. I stare at Cedric with a look of anger.
"Why is Ella handcuffed and why has she been put in a cell!" I say through gritted teeth.
"Because she's been a very naughty girl" He smirks, I glare at him and look to Ella who is staring at her lap and picking at her fingernails.
"What the hell!" I shout.
"Do you even understand how unfair and disgusting you are!!" Ella looks at me her eyes wide.
"Adrian stop please" She wines looking desperate.
"No Ella I will not stop ok!" I turn turn to Cedric.
"You are a repulsive human being this compared to other things I know you've done is nothing, you deserve to rot in hell" I spit. I stand up and pull Ella to her feet I start to make a run for it but when I open the door guards seize me. Ella screams as one slams me against the wall.
"Don't hurt him" She crys, I shove against the guard but he has me pinned my body is still weak and I'm starting to feel lightheaded. Cedric walks towards Ella cornering her he grips her arms and she winces in pain. My body tenses.
"Don't you dare even touch her!" I growl, Shoving against the guard managing to escape from his grip. But before I can reach Ella I feel a needle plunge into my neck instantly sedating me. The last thing I see is Cedric's evil smile.
