(Keeli X Reader) Falling PART 1

Start from the beginning

"Masters, I have found through my personal experiences that there are more efficient, more humane ways to connect yourself to the force. Unfortunately the Jedi Code forbids me from enabling such manners, which is why I must forsake it if I am to survive now that I have used them."

Master Ki-Adi Mundi leaned forward. "And what manners might these be, Master (L/N)?"

(Y/N) was unable to hide her smile as she answered, "It's simple, Master Mundi. I've allowed myself to feel. To feel compassion, joy, hope...even love has found its way into my heart. I cannot and I will not deny these emotions that only bring me more serenity in the force than I have ever possessed beforehand. This is why I tell you that if the Jedi deny me my right as a living being to feel, then I must go my own way."

The Jedi Council sat in shock. All of the masters looked to Grand Master Yoda, impatiently awaiting his response to (Y/N)'s sudden outburst. Master Yoda seemed to genuinely consider the young master's words. This was certainly not the first time that he had heard such, however they had never been voiced in the wake of a terrible conflict that had permanently altered the Jedi as greatly as the Clone War had.

At last, Master Yoda simply said, "Meditate, I must."

(Y/N) and the remainder of the council gaped as Master Yoda nonchalantly rose from his seat and began making his way towards the door. Just as he prepared to exit the room, he turned back and nodded to (Y/N). Her expression did not change as the door closed quietly behind him, leaving the council in a more confused state than ever.

"It appears that Master Yoda has spoken," Master Mundi mused.

"Master (L/N), we will contact you when a decision has been made. For now...go about your business," Master Windu said, a conflicted look in his eyes.

(Y/N)'s own eyes reflected Master Windu's gaze as she nodded and left the room, her head spinning as she vainly attempted to process what she had just heard.

. . .

Not even a full month after (Y/N) had made her intentions known to the Jedi Council, Master Anakin Skywalker had confessed that he had not only been involved with Senator Padmé Amidala since the beginning of the Clone War, but that she was also expecting a child that he had fathered. (Y/N) could not deny that she had been shocked by such a revelation, however she had also found herself extremely relieved to hear that she was not the only one who ventured to break the Jedi Code. She was very hopeful that the council's desire to keep Master Skywalker within the Jedi Order would push them to fulfill her request, as it would be unjust to only permit one Jedi to form attachments.

"Keeli, there's no point in hiding anymore. You've been honorably discharged, and even if the Jedi Council says that my feelings are wrong, I can't ever go back to being a Jedi...not now that they know," (Y/N) said before Keeli could protest her embracing him in broad daylight. He sighed and, knowing that she was right, gave in without further hesitation.

"It's nice not having to sneak around," Keeli remarked.

(Y/N) laughed. "Well, get used to it."

And that he would.

. . .

The day that the Jedi Council had announced that attachments were no longer forbidden by the Jedi Code was also the day that Keeli had proposed to (Y/N). The joy surrounding that day had almost been overwhelming, and in the months that followed that joy never wavered. They day that (Y/N) and Keeli had set for their marriage crept up on them faster than either had thought was possible, however neither wished for time to slow down when it came to such an ordeal.

(Y/N) and Keeli had elected to have a small ceremony. So small in fact that the only guests would be three of Keeli's brothers and (Y/N)'s former master. They always had known that they would want their union to be a minor affair, which was what had made the planning process so brief and simple.

True to her minimalist Jedi origins, (Y/N)'s wedding attire was simple yet elegant, and she had taken great care to make certain that she would have no issue with movement while wearing it. Keeli had followed in a similar fashion, wearing a simple but clean uniform for the ceremony.

All was well until the reception, which was when (Y/N)'s former master had alerted her to the fact that a special guest was waiting outside of the small hall that (Y/N) and Keeli had rented, and that said guest seemed very eager to speak with (Y/N). With the promise of her hasty return, (Y/N) made her way to the building's entrance.

Stepping outside into the fresh air, she was finally able to gather her thoughts. She was married! She found herself carrying a strong hope for the future, as Master Skywalker and Senator Amidala had recently welcomed their twin children into the galaxy without complications. Over the course of just a few months, her entire life had changed for the better in such a way that the entire galaxy felt the affects of the new era that was dawning after the end of the war. Truly, nothing could dampen (Y/N)'s spirits.

"Hello, Master (L/N)."

(Y/N) spun around, startled. The voice sounded familiar, however she felt herself unable to place it. Looking around, she saw no one. She was suddenly aware of the cold that enveloped her in spite of the warmth of the day outside. Against the wishes of the bright sun, a dark feeling had begun to cloud her senses. She shivered and whirled around, wildly searching for the source of these foreboding omens.

Without warning, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine emerged from the shadows. His usually calm features were masked by a startlingly sinister smile. (Y/N) attempted to shake away the memory of his expression. Surely she was imaging it...

"Congratulations on your marriage, Master (L/N)!" The chancellor said politely.

"I...thank you..."

The chancellor laughed. "A bit dazed from all of the happiness you must be feeling, aren't you?"

"Y-Yes..."

Something was very wrong.

"I apologize for my intrusion on such a momentous occasion, however I'm afraid that this urgent business simply couldn't wait. You see, I have a bit of unfortunate news to share."

(Y/N)'s eyes widened. "Whatever could be unfortunate at a time like this?"

The chancellor's smile faded, giving way to a saddened expression. "I'm afraid that my sources tell me that someone is planning an attack on your new husband...and his brothers."

"What?"

"There seems to be some sort of unknown force making an effort to remove the clone army from the galaxy in a more...permanent way."

"No..." (Y/N) could not imagine who would want to do such a thing. The clones had only ever fought to liberate the people of the galaxy- who would have it out for them?

The chancellor was quick to begin reassuring (Y/N). He gently placed his hand on her shoulder. When she finally met his eyes, she saw that his smile had returned. The dark feeling was overwhelming now, and she couldn't shake the notion that the chancellor had something to do with it.

"Fortunately, I have a plan to stop this madness. A...proposition for you, if you will."

(Y/N) could not lose the one that she had worked so hard to keep. "Anything," she said.

The chancellor's smile widened. As he began to slowly lead her away in order to discuss his plans, it was unknown to (Y/N) that she would one day come to regret those words with every ounce of her being.
