Chivalry Is Not Dead // Jaebeom X Reader

You are running through a thick field of corn. Your heart beating faster and faster, your lungs aching to grasp as much oxygen as it can to keep you going.

Aaahhhhhh!!

You hear an ear piercing scream from a couple of metres behind you. It startles you so much that you misplaced your foot and tumbled to the muddy ground.

"F***"

Tears are rolling down your face as you hear rustling from the path that you just came through, from the direction of the scream.

You try to get yourself up by grabbing onto the leaves of the corn, so you can escape, but you're soon to realise that you have sprained your ankle.

You groan in agony.

You suddenly hear whispers, but you can't make out what is being said.

You look around to see who it is through teary eyes.

Your body flinches as you hear it again.
You cover your ears with your hands and shut your eyes close tightly.

But that doesnt do anything because again the whispers, but this time it's continous.

"Please stop... noooo!!!!" You scream pushing your hands hard against your ears.

The voice is beginning to become clearer and you hear your name.

"Y/N hey wake up. Y/N!"

Your eyes open.

"Huh~" you are no longer in the field. You're in your bed and your body is shivering, but you aren't cold but warm. You're sweating all over.

"Hey. Babe. You okay?" The familiar warm voice beside you, whispers to you in the dark. His hands are placed on your shoulders as his face is hovering beside you.

You blink quickly a few times "Y-Yeah.. I.. I think so" you take deep breaths in and out.

"You were shouting out in your sleep" Jaebeom, your boyfriend whispers and you feel his fingers caress your cheeks. You then realise your face is stained with tears as he's wiping them away with his thumb.

"I think you might have had a bad dream."

A whimper sound escapes your lips as you remember the terrifying scream.

"Do you want to cuddle for a bit?"

You nod.

"Come here"

Jaebeom rolls you over to your side, onto his arm which drapes up around your shoulders and his hand rests on your hair. He shuffles closer so that your face is up against his chest, his other arm places around your waist.

"This is better hmm?"

You nod again and your hand rests in between the dip of his hip bone and your fingers curl taking some of the material of his tshirt into your grasp.

"sorry for waking you up" He strokes your hair.

"It was so scary.." you sigh deeply and close your eyes, trying to relax and even out your breathing.

"I bet it was" Jaebeom sighs deeply too. He must have been a little startled himself, by hearing you shout the way you did in your sleep.

"Sorry... for waking you up."

"You didn't wake me up. I've been awake all this time" he tells you.

But you know it's not the truth, as you can tell by his tone of voice. He just doesn't want you to feel bad.

"Anyways do you remember what happened... in your night mare?" Jaebeom asks.

"I remember a scream. Like someone was in pain."

"Hmm"

"And I was running.. like I was trying to get away from something. Then I fell and couldn't get up. I sprained my ankle." You tell.

"Aww I'm sorry.... nightmares suck" then you feel his hand that was around your waist, run up and down your back as he was trying to calm you down to reality.

"You know you're safe with me right?"
Jaebeom whispering voice is so calming
....

"I'll never let anyone hurt you"
....

"I'll protect you I promise."
....

"I'm here. I'm here for you"
....

You nod slowly. "I know"

Your body did a little after shock flinch. You suddenly began to feel cold.

"You can squeeze me as hard as you need to."

Your fingers let go of his tshirt and you hug him close.

He groans "Oh-kay maybe not..that tight"

It felt nice. You loosen your hold "but you just said I could"

He chuckles softly and it warms your heart.

"I know. Okay squeeze me if it helps you feel better."

You let out air through your nose. As a smile spreads across your lips.

"Just listen to my breathing" Jaebeom whispers in your ear.

He takes a deep and slow breath in and then gently releases it. The hot air escapes from his lips and tickles your ear.

You burry your head further down his chest, away from his lips.

He continues and you begin to breath the same as him, soon your breathing is in sync and you no longer feel cold.

After a moment you hear his deep breathing like he's beginning to fall into sleep.

You lift your head off his chest and look at him, your hand stretching up to place on his cheek.

"Jaebeom-ah Please don't sleep before me." You tell and his eyes shoot open.

"Oh what?"

"I'm a bit worried, as soon as I fall asleep I might get another nightmare.

"S-Sorry. Sure" he mumbles as he awakens fully and removes his arm from your waist and rubs his eyes.

He groans and then sighs as he readjusts both of you.

Now you are laying ontop of him and he has both his arms wrapped around you.

"Can you... sing for me?"

"Hmmm. Sure baby. Close your eyes"

He begins to hum a tune first. You feel it deep from his chest as your ear is resting against it and amongst it you can hear his heart beating.

Then words gently spill out through his lips and into the room.

"When I get anxious you always tell me you love me...

Soon your eyes begin to feel heavy and get droopy.

When he's done singing you're still fighting between sleep taking you.

"I love you babe." you feel his warm lips press into the top of your head.

"Hmm.. I.. I love... y-you... too" you sigh softly and fall into a deep sleep.
