"And now we would like to welcome our new member to the Clique," Mad-no, Semi-Automatic stood on the large stage, a microphone hung in front of his face.
In a straight line we stood at the front of the crowd, Jeenie and Azur huddled close together while Ryan looked around the crowd behind him.
"Unfortunately one of these fine Skeletons didn't make it to see the day he would be a full member, for that we will take a moment silence for Geronimo, he will be missed,"
By few, he was annoying. Honestly he had it coming for him. Don't piss off the wrong person, you'll get it.
"Now, Azur will be known as “Rainbow Stricker”,
Jeenie, “Purple Puma”, Ryan, "Modern Day Cain" and finally, Candice will be known as "Lemon Boy", from now on they will be referred to by their codenames, out on field."
The crowd cheered as the others rushed into them with open arms, but I hung back.
"Still not a fan of the whole 'rave' thing?"
I shook my head, "No, I never will be. I don't like confined spaces and will avoid them whenever I can," a shuddered even thinking about being encased anywhere near so many bodies.
"Well, Lemon, come with me," she grabbed my hand, dragging me away from the noise.
"Where are you taking me Aqua?"
"If only you knew Flame," she teased, it almost felt as though electricity was pulsing through her palm into me.
"That was the point of me asking Aqua, seriosuly do you not understand what a question is?"
She stopped, I could feel her palms shaking, were our hands always this sweaty?
"Dylan, are you okay?" My voice shaky, she's normally so confident, she does know her being nervous makes me more anxious for where she's taking me...right?
"Yes, I just-"
"RAID! RAID ON OUR BASE!" The call echoed up the hall.
"No, this is all wrong. Every time,"
I turned her to face me, "Listen Aqua, we will get through this raid. It's probably just another small Army scouting party. They have lost two of their youngest fighters after all, also my primary carer was Kobra Kid, they're bound to try to find me at least."
"NO! This was meant to be perfect, we were meant to be perfect and every single time I try, they ruin it," rage seered through her eyes as she ripped her hand away from mine, rushing down the hall way and out of sight.
Thanks Dyl, now I have to find my way back, I stumbled along, trying to find my way, following the echos of gun shots.
Picking up the pace, I was met with a full on battle in the meeting hall.
"Candy, over here!" Fragile's call beckoned me over to where he was hiding with Glowing Eyes.
Crouching near them I turned to face Fragile, "Have you seen Dylan, did you see which way she went? She left so quickly, I lost her...I don't want to lose her, I-"
"Action Cat grabbed her and took her to get weapons and reinforcements, last I saw, they were back out again," Glowing Eyes informed me.
Panic shot through my veins, "What! No, I have to get out there!" Without hesitation I pushed myself up, running blindly into the battlefield.
"Stop!" The call came from the stage, turning my attention for a split second, I saw Mad Gear tied up on the stage with Missle Kid and the other new initiates, "if you don't listen to our wishes, your pitiful traitor of a leader will get his brains blown out."
His bright read hair stuck out between the odd ball group that was the Killjoys, "Give us Miss Believer and we may just let your pathetic excuse of a gang exist."
"No! I will die fighting to save my leader," her voice was loudest of all as she charged for the stage, her finger on the trigger.
I could see the smirk on Party Poison's face, even under his ridiculous mask as the shot came out of his gun.
She hit the ground with a thud, gun sliding across the stage to Part Poison's feet.
I felt myself running towards her, a screech leaving my mouth, glancing to my left I noticed Action Cat running for the stage also.
Leaping up onto the stage, I dived for Aqua Opal, scooping her up into my arms. Tears pricked at my eyes but I blinked them away, seeing Cat and Fragile join me. Leaving Dylan with them, I stood, turning the face the Killjoys, rage burning in my eyes.
"No. My name is Lemon Boy, Helena was horrible and none of you stopped her, Miss Believer is no more, she will never exist again," my eyes skirted over the crowd until they landed on Mr Benzedrine, "and I know the truth now, every little bit." I snapped my attention over to Kobra Kid.
He moved back, away from the rest of the Killjoys, "You don't know anything Candice, stop lying."
"Oh, but I've heard the story. Dad."
The others turned to look at him, as he stared at me.
"You know it was real swell to come here and learn the truth. I hate lyres you know? To learn that you ran away from all of your problems and took me with you. To learn that I was a mistake. That the reason you never stuck up for me was because I reminded you of him. The reason tou never told anyone to respect my decision, my identity. Do you know how much it hurt to me to tell him everything?" The need to kill something was making me more angry, calm down, but it's only fair...a life for a life.
"All of the questions he had for me; 'What did he say about me? What did he do without me? Did he respect your decision? Did he think that after all this time that you wouldn't find out about me?' Of course the answer to them all was no, except obviously the last one. You hoped I wouldn't find out, that I'd go on believing that you all found me parentless and alone in Battery City, when you were fighting the Ghosts. How cruel of you Mikey, how cruel."
"Why didn't you want me to know?" I paced over to him, tearing his helmet off. "Were you ashamed of him? Yourself? Your actions? Your decision? Me? Or were you just too much of a coward?"
"I didn't think it-"
"See that's the problem, Dad. It doesn't matter to you, but to me it does. To me it would've explained so much. It would at least explain why I am so fucked up. Why I am the way I am. Why I'm a boy and not your little girl, why I never felt like a girl, why I was never a girl."
"How does your gender dysphoria have anything to do with this Candice?" His words stung like a hot coal.
"YOU MADE ME A GIRL, YOU WANTED A GIRL SO YOU FOUND THE NECESSARY "MEDICINES" TO MAKE SURE I WAS. I'VE ALWAYS BEEN A BOY AND YOU STOPPED ME."
He stared, wide eyed in fear, "No. I didn't you were born a girl and will always be a girl."
"No he wasn't, Mikey you know that's a lie," Mr Benzedrine pushed his way through the crowd, hopping up on to the stage next to me, he put a hand on my shoulder, "take some deep breaths Candy."
I shook my head, "No! He deserves to die for killing Aqua, a life for a life," pain ripped through my tone.
Mr Benzedrine shook his head, "No, they will be punished for it and their punishment will be up to Semi-Automatic, but I would say sending them home empty handed and heavy hearted would be punishment enough."
"No, it's not, one of them needs to-"
Bang. The last sound I heard as everything faded away, no pain just emptiness.
