You had mesmerized him - that was the simplest way to put it. From the way you spoke to the way you carried yourself, even to the way you admired the living things around with sincere care and pleasure. His affections grew as the Company remained in Rivendell, and he found himself even more intrigued as he kept his eyes upon your every move. He had fallen in love with you; an elven lady of the Hidden Valley.
"And...what is your name, fair lady?" The little hobbit asked as he took his place at the table amongst the others in his company.
"(Y/n), young hobbit. That is my name. I am pleased to meet you, Bilbo." You offered a smile to him, unaware of his growing fondness.
You lowered your gaze respectfully as you made your way to the table at which Lord Elrond and Mithrandir sat. A sudden attentiveness urged you to stop and offer the kind hobbit another smile, however, this one bore a frolicsome curve to it.
He swallowed bashfully as you spoke his name. For he felt a twinge of embarrassment in you knowing his name, but he being ignorant of yours. He assumed it was because you were an elf, a being of great knowledge, that had allowed you to come by his title.
When you had then offered him that mischievous smirk, he felt the heat rise in his cheeks and his hands toiled with each other in his lap. Forcefully, he turned his gaze to Balin and tried to tune into the ongoing conversation about Ori's desire for chips. But he could only think about you...
That smile seemed so full of grace and tenderness to the burglar - for he saw stars shimmer in your glance and wisdom frill upon the beauty in your voice. He had never seen such a captivating creature, for even no other around you in Rivendell seemed to compare and he believed none ever would.
He watched carefully and as subtly as he could through their stay in the Hidden Valley. When you ate, he took note of your graceful manners that seemed surpass those around you - for the hobbit had great respect for well-established manners - although it was most likely his interest in you that made your manners seem more elegant than even those of Lord Elrond.
He noticed the way the soft colors of your gown accentuated your features and your alluring (h/c) tendrils. He found that your smile made his heart skip a beat in his quaint little body, and your angelic laughter made butterflies flit about within him.
That evening, he would try and strike a conversation with you in some efforts to fulfill his curiosities. He hoped to speak with you about your home and the way you lived here and what exactly life was for an elf.
As he lay next to his companions that night, he wondered if you took pleasure in books and music, and what meals you favored most...and if so, he wished to walk with the elven paths of the valley with you and discuss all there was to be known.
But as he glanced around him he remembered the doubt that most - if not all - of his new companions harbored for him. For they had made their opinions known very well thus far. He began to doubt, too, if you had thought him interesting. His thoughts became infringed upon with the negativity Thorin and Dwalin and the others felt for him.
Of course she wouldn't...I'm a hobbit of all creatures. She lives among great elves and mighty lords, not commonfolk. Especially not commonfolk of my stature.
He would never forget you - for he knew that from the moment he had laid eyes upon you. But deep within his heart he wished to know you far better than his journey would bid him to. Always would an image of you be painted upon his heart.
Unknownst to Bilbo, you had found solace in the shimmering of his pale blue eyes. You would never be able to forget the soft touch of his hand as you met him that first evening, nor the gentle tone to his quaint little voice. He was simply a darling creature, and you missed him every day.
You hoped one day he would find his way back to Rivendell, back in the midst of your beautiful land, when he was not to be wisked away in the dawn by a company of dwarves.
