          Clyde's Pov:
I wave a final goodbye to Pete as I shut the apartment door. I had a drawstring bag slipped over one shoulder as I began to walk down the busy streets of the city. I looked down at the address once more that Moose had sent me earlier nervously. I was surprised it was so close to my apartment, but really just nervous that I would miss it. I was dressed in an orange button-up shirt, but had my hoodie on over it. It was cold out, can you blame me?
I walk down the streets and rub my hands together, checking my phone and looking at the place I stood in front of in confusion. This was the place, right? It had the same address and everything...
I take a breath before anxiously opening the door and stepping inside. I was immediately hit with loud music and lights. I squeeze my eyes shut for a moment before opening them and looking around. The place was crowded and full of many different looking people. I mean anything from crazy hair-dos to up-tight looking busy people.
A tall black haired man approaches me with a slight smirk on his face. "Mind if I take your sweatshirt for you, sir?" He winks at me, making me clear my throat and flash him an awkward smile.
"No thanks... I'm all set for now... just uh, looking for my friends is all..." I mumble.
"All right, just let me know if you need anything, sugar." He winks and laughs.
I sigh and walk over to the bar area, finding myself a stool and sitting on it. I felt very... uncomfortable to say the least. I had many eyes on me. MANY eyes. Mostly male eyes.
The bar tender walks over to me, cleaning a glass and looking at me. "What can I get you?"
I look over at him. He was probably one of the only people in this whole area not giving me weird looks!
"I think I'll just go with a water for now, please... uh... by the way, have you by chance seen a baseball team stop in here?" I say, looking up from my hands.
He shakes his head. "Afraid not... we uh... probably wouldn't get things like that here... but, let me get you that water..." he went to grab me a glass. I blink twice and stare back down at my hands in confusion. What did he mean 'like here'?
I felt two arms wrap around my neck. I quickly thrash over and look to see who it was. There, stood a short, Black haired male with freckles splattered across his face. Many other men, wearing tight and revealing clothes stood behind him.
"Hey Cutie~." I hear him say. I throw his arms off of me.
"Who are you?! That was uncalled for!" I spat and glared at him. I was getting stressed, and was being completely taken over by the situation.
He smiles and laughs. "Aww, you must be new here, Hmm?" He snickers, the group of men behind him doing the same. "Let me guess, just coming out of the closet or something?"
"Why do you make it sound like this is someplace special?! What closet..? I don't know who you are just... please tell me...!" I say in a bit of frustration, yet try and calm myself down.
"Darling, You're in New York's finest Gay Bar~." He smiles sweetly at me.
I look down at my phone and blink twice, my eyes widening a bit. I hold my phone out to them. "You mean this IS the proper location?!"
The male looks down at my phone, then up at me. "Sweetness... are you lost?" He frowns. "That's the address of this place... but... who told you to come here?" He says with sudden pity for me.
I facepalm and sigh. "Just... a friend... it was probably some misunderstanding... thank you..." I groan and storm my way to the door. I grab my hoodie and take one last look at the place. The male gave me a sad look, but a lot of the people in the bar were still dancing their hearts away. How did I not notice this before? I shake my head and bite my lip before walking out the door.
I throw my hoodie on quickly and sigh. Rain was coming down heavy... and I don't even know where the baseball dinner is anymore. I whip my phone out and let out a breath.
'Hey Moose... I think you might have accidentally given me the wrong location, is there a chance you could tell me where it really is? Thanks.'
I felt my heart shatter a little bit as I began to think... did they send me here on purpose? Did I do something wrong? I really wasn't sure, and I was getting upset over it for sure. Chances are nobody on my team would want to come to a place like this anyway. A buzz comes from my phone, which I quickly look down at. There was no other context, but a text from Moose with a new location... it was a few blocks away, but I could manage to walk. I shove my phone and hands into my sweatshirt pocket and beging to walk down the street sadly.
I take a deep breath and begin to relax as i walk, then, a bit of happiness fills me. I was on my dream baseball team... and, with the BEST player in the whole world! Connor Kruzer! That was amazing in itself, and there is no reason why I should be upset right now. I mean, how could I??
My slow and dragged steps turned more into a slight trot as I neared the bar. I checked the location before nervously stepping inside. I was greeted by a stressed looking hostess. "Hello... for here or... or did you order, or?"
I give her a small smile. "By chance is my team here tonight?"
She looks me up and down before nodding. "Yes... right this way." She grabs a menu and lead me into a completely separate area. I look over at the tables and I couldn't prevent myself from instantly grinning.
There it was, my whole team sitting at tables with drinks in their hands, bonding and chatting happily.
She lead me to sit at the bar, and hands me the menu. "There you are, someone will take your order shortly."
I wave as she left. "Bye, thank you." I sit back a bit and began to look through some of the drinks. Personally, I prefer not to drink alcohol, I've never had one before but, then seem pretty risky.
I look to the side of me to see the exhausted looking Pitcher, so, I flash him a small smile.
He looks over at me and raises a brow, before I heard a drunk laugh and our coach put his hands on our shoulders. "'Ello you two! Are you enjoying the night?" He grins at both of us. His breath stunk of some kind of beer, but I couldn't figure out what exactly...
"Just... Fine. Thank you." The pitcher dismisses him. The coach grumbles and walks away. He looks over at me and sighs. "I saw what they did to you, I'm sorry that you have to deal with it already."
I watch the coach walk away before looking back at him and cocking my head. He seemed pretty quiet most the time, I was surprised that he was talking to me. "What do you mean? Who did what?"
He shakes his head and sighs, taking a sip out of his soda. "I mean those two knuckleheads over there sending you to that gay bar. They're absolute jerks, and I'm sorry man." He looks at me intently.
They... really did then. Huh? "Oh... well, I'm sure it was all in good fun..." I grin awkwardly.
He laughs briefly. "Yeah, for them. You'll get used to it, kid."
"No, really. They seem so nice, I don't think they would mean harm or anything." I say more to reassure myself... and with a slight undertone of questioning.
He shrugs his head. "See it yourself... but..." he looks be deep in the eyes. I gulp and look away, yet I could still feel the deathly stare. "You have been warned..."
"R-Right... thank you," I grin awkwardly and wave, taking a breath as he walked off. I look over at the two now slightly drunk men.
There he was, and, here I was. The biggest inspiration of my life, and me... in the same room. Connor would never do something like that, right? Like I've said, I want to be like him... and most important of all now, I want to impress him.
I take a deep breath and gather up my courage, before walking over to the world's best catcher. My teammate. Connor Kruzer.
