Victoria had called the venue, and was able to up the date. What she didn't expect, was to up the wedding day as far up as they did. There happened to be a cancellation, and only date available gave her only a month to plan the wedding. Here they are, a little over a month later, getting ready to say their I do's. With her now being nearly 16 weeks pregnant, and a growing belly, she had to pay extra to have her dress altered, and in record time, to be able to wear it on her wedding day.
Dalton was at the venue much earlier than planned, to give Victoria the time needed for her to get ready, and to follow the tradition of not seeing the bride before they were to marry. It also gave him time to get himself ready, and to go over the details with the officiant, and their wedding planner.
Dalton had just finished getting himself ready, when Stan walked in the room. He walked over to Dalton, giving him a hug, and asking they had a man to man talk. Stan walks him over to a table, and has Dalton sit across from him.
He looks around the room, making sure they're alone, and folds his hands as he looked at him with a seriousness look in his eyes. "I just wanted to have a talk with you before you marry that beautiful woman of yours. I have to say, I'm extremely happy things happened the way it did with Krista, she was bad news, and I knew it from the first day you brought her home for us to meet. I'd say I'm sorry that I disliked her as much as I did, but that's not the case, I'm not sorry one bit. But enough talk about that stupid bitch." he chuckled.
He reached for Dalton's hand, and grabbed a hold of it firmly, smiling. "But I do have to say, you did well. From the moment I saw that beautiful, blue eyed blonde, sitting next to Janelle, and heard she was the new love in your life, I felt warm inside. She immediately had my heart, there was just something about her that I liked. I know I tease her all the time, and have my little fun with her, but that's just to show how much I like her. She's a good woman, and I know she'll make a good wife for you. She'll also be a good mother to your child, or children if you two decide to have more. More than I can say than that other woman you nearly married... and now that you've found yourself a good one, please do not let her go."
"Dad..." he smiled. "I would never do anything to make her want to leave. You've got my word on that. I'm glad things happened the way it did with Krista, and it was an eye opener... believe me, had I married Krista, I never would have met Victoria, and we wouldn't be sitting her right now, having this talk. I know Krista was bad news, and to be honest, we probably would have been divorced by now. With Victoria, I don't see that ever happening. We both met each other at the right time, and at a time in our lives when we both thought there would never be anyone else to make us happy. In the short time we've been together, we have learned and grown together, and I plan on continuing to do that for the rest of our lives."
Stan grinned, and released his hand from Dalton's. "Good, that's good to hear. You know a secret to good marriage?"
"What's that?" he asked, curious as to what he'd say. And wondering how his mother never left him, especially after the way he was talking to Victoria.
"Well... there are many secrets, but one advice I can give is, never go to bed angry, just keep fighting all night... that's what I like doing with your mother." he snickered. "Just make sure to leave the toilet seat down... enough said." he grinned. "Oh, and just make sure you always say, yes Hun, you're right, I'm wrong, I understand you completely, and whenever you get threatened by her, make sure you say, you promise?"
Dalton laughed, and shook his head. "You're something else."
Victoria stood in the mirror, loving how her Ballgown Silhouette dress had her looking, and feeling like Cinderella. She was in awe, and as she stood there staring at herself, she thought about Dalton, and how she couldn't wait to see his reaction when she walks towards him.
