Fall

A loud bang clapped through the atmosphere and Charlie snapped to attention, her confused gaze flicking out to the window next to their table. Sooli hid under Charlie's chair, trembling against her leg. Charlie hushed him calm- he was terrified of loud noises- and swung the window open.
"What on earth was that? Did a bomb just drop or something?" she asked, trying to spot something from her restricted field of vision. Kafu tried to peek his head out of the window as well, but Charlie's head blocked his view. Instead, he grabbed her nimble arm and pulled her out of the hotel out into the open. A giant Ultra Wormhole had torn into the sky, and a giant black monster was roaring at the gateway.

"It's that monster from the mural!" Charlie shouted over the noise to Kafu. Kafu nodded and began trekking closer to the giant wormhole as everybody else ran away screaming. They stood facing up underneath it, Kafu having to tightly grip onto Charlie's arm to stop her from being blown away by the whirling wind.

"How did it get here?" Charlie yelled, her arm resting over her eyes to block the blinding light of the wormhole as she looked upward in awe and curiosity, her arm beginning the ache at Kafu's tight grip and strong fingers. Kafu scowled and rubbed his forehead,
"The wormhole we opened probably loosened whatever was stopping the beasts from breaking through, so it took the opportunity to get here!" he shouted. Charlie raised an eyebrow,

"It's not doing anything! It's just sitting there. Maybe it doesn't know what to do or is just chilling out," she called and slowly tugged at Kafu's arm to begin inching away from the wormhole. The hid behind a building blocking the merciless wind before Kafu pulled the book from before out of his bag and began flipping through.
"Does it say anything about closing a sky-rip-thing?" Kafu shook his head.
"It closes when either the monster goes back into whatever is behind that wormhole or fully comes out. Then it'll disappear," he shrugged. Charlie stuck her head around the wall and scowled.

"But it's not moving! Is it trying to keep the wormhole open?"
She glanced at Kafu and blinked, hesitating and her mind going blinked.
"I guess we'll have to push it back in," she hissed. Kafu raised an eyebrow,
"What?" he asked, shutting his book, "how-"

Before he could finish, Charlie began sprinting for the whirlwind beneath the ultra wormhole, Kafu barely missing being able to grab her arm and stop her,
"Charlie!" he screamed after her as the wind began to pick her up without the support of Kafu holding her down. The beast looked at her as she spun around, inching closer and closer toward it- until she managed to crash into it! Pushing it back from the shock and pulling them both into the Ultra Wormhole!

It suddenly closed behind them, the wind came to an abrupt halt as the world lay still, Kafu still in shock.

"Bad idea, bad idea, bad idea!" Charlie screamed as she and the giant black monster sank through space, dodging different obstacles that could've killed Charlie's pathetic body. Further and further they were pulled through space,
"Sooli!" Charlie yelled, looking down at her partner who was still firmly attached to her leg, eyes closed and shivering, "it's gonna be okay! I'll get us out of here! Just let me figure out how!"

In desperation, she grabbed for her log, but the speed of her falling quickly swiped it out of her hand,
"My recorder!" Charlie screamed, trying to reach for it, her voice cracking as it burst into a flaming fireball from the pressure of the atmosphere. Her entire life had been recorded onto that thing, and now it was gone. Charlie clenched her fist, no time to mourn. First priority, don't die.

In a flash, the black beast beneath her got sucked into another trail, and Charlie could then see what she was falling into. Her eyes almost burst out as she began falling into brilliant light and the world around her went dark.

"Sooli," Charlie forced her eyes open to see her pokemon sitting in front of her, protecting Charlie from the Bidoof and Surskits that tried to bite or steal from her. She managed to push her self off of the ground with her weak and shaking arms, sitting upright.
"Where am I?" she whispered, looking around her. It looked like she was in some kind of village? The signs and writing were all in a different language, and she couldn't read anything.

"Oh, goodness! Are you alright?" a sweet voice called and she saw a Vivillon fan her face with its wings. Charlie blinked,
"Yeah, I'm alright. I think. Where am I?" she felt someone help her up and Sooli floated beside her. After a small stretch, Charlie turned and almost fell back down again!
"Juniper?" she scowled. The woman nodded but looked confused.
"Yes, that's me. I don't know who you are though, you seem a bit faint, let me take you to my house!" she offered and held onto Charlie's back to stop her from falling.

Charlie blinked,
"But...you're in Alola?" she stuttered and rubbed her temples. Juniper blinked,
"Sorry, but I've never heard of Oloha. I live here, in Kalos. Santalune, although my dream is to live in Lumino City. I almost have enough money to afford living there though!" she explained and used a free hand to open and already unlocked door into a small little apartment. Juniper sat Charlie down on the sofa.

Charlie blinked,
"But after the Kalos Tax raise, it's almost impossible to live in Lumino? How come you almost have enough?" she asked, leaning into the plush cushions. Juniper gave her a glass of water to calm her down.

"I think you're confused. Kalos hasn't had a tax raise in decades. And I just got a job at a cafe, which is providing enough money for me to look after my Vivi here and save up for Lumino," she explained and sat down next to Charlie. Charlie blinked in confusion,
"What is going on?"
