"Hello, adventurer."

The mayor held out his hand while speaking to Kaore.

"Hello there," he responded.

"I see that you are a new adventurer here, so let me give you something."

The mayor got a small crystal ball out of his pocket and handed it to Kaore.

"If you crush this in your hand, it will allow you to see your abilities, missions, and much more. It is very necessary for every adventurer, so you must take it."

"Okay. Can I do it right now?"

"Yes. Just squeeze it in your hand and it will break. It is very fragile, so it shatters easily."

Kaore clenched his fingers until he heard a sound like glass breaking. He opened his hand, revealing an empty palm. Just then, the mayor spoke again.

"If you swipe down your index finger on your right hand, you can see your menu. I will also give you this magic bag, which can store many things. There is a limit to its space, but you will be able to increase it later on. It already has a few things in it to start you out. Anyway, go to Explorer Osu now. He will tell you more about starting off and about this Beginner's Isle. Good luck, newcomer."

Tutorial Quest: Updated

Talk to Explorer Osu. He will teach you more.

The blue screen came up once again with the map to guide him to where he was supposed to go to. Kaore followed the path on the map, leaving him standing in front of a small wooden hut. He walked inside and saw a skinny man sitting on a chair. There were only a few other players there, but it looked like they were reading through books.

"Are you a new adventurer as well? Here, this will tell you all you need to know. I have other stuff to do so I can't waste my time on you people."

Osu swiftly took a book from a stack on the floor next to him and tossed it to Kaore. Wow. What a stingy guy

"Okay. Thank you."

Kaore went out within seconds of coming in. It had a strap on it, so the book didn't open crazily. He looked at the cover and saw the title.

Adventurer's Guide On How To Not Die. Kaore laughed quietly. He opened the book and saw the table of contents. He then continued reading the book. It explained to him that the town was on a circular island, with monsters outside the town. All the monsters were weak, so it was a perfect place for beginners, hence the name Beginner's Isle. Monsters dropped materials, equipment, gold, and many other things. There were quests to subjugate monsters, collect materials, and more. Each quest had ranks, except for the tutorial quest. They went from A for easiest to Z for hardest. Along with difficulty, there were also level recommendations for quests, separate from their rank. Items had the same rankings, with A for the lowest quality to Z for the highest. Instead of level recommendations, there were level requirements. It then told Kaore about his menu as it automatically pulled his up into a blue screen, also known as an info screen.

Name: Kaore     Level: 1     Class: Classless

HP: 1000 (Your amount of quantitative life force)

MP: 200 (The amount of quantitative magical power)

Attack: 1 (The amount of damage you do - based on equipment)

Defense: 5 (How well you can withstand attacks - based on equipment)

Strength: 8 (Your physical strength, affecting the amount of physical damage you do)

Stamina: 10 (Affects recovery speed and how fast resources deplete)

Agility: 17 (Affects speed, jump height, attack speed)

Magic Power: 10 (Your magical strength, affecting the amount of magic damage you do)

Perception: 100% (Based on real life brain speed - affects ability to sense/react to attacks/people)

Kaore hadn't pulled up his menu yet, so it was all knew to him. There was also a section for skills and effects, but there was nothing there. That section was for abilities that he learned and current effects which he had, but, of course, there was nothing there. After that, the book said that there were no death penalties until after level 10, in which dying would cost you XP and have a chance to drop equipment.

"I just wanna get started."

There were then battle tactics, but Kaore didn't bother to read them. Right after he closed the book, an info screen came up.

Tutorial Quest: Updated

Go out of town and defeat 10 Ribbits.

Reward: 50 Copper, 100 XP

The map had also updated, showing him the path to the gate that led out of the town.

***

As he arrived at the gate, Kaore remembered something.

"I forgot to check my bag!"

How do I open this? Kaore found a small, floating button after a few seconds and tapped it. Then a large info screen came out, filled with many small, rectangular squares.

"Ooh. So this is how you open it."

He quickly checked his bag, but it was empty inside except for the book Osu gave him.

Checking the book for the location of the Ribbits, Koare exited the city gate to hunt them.
