Gina had drove with her mom to pick up Astrid and Vanna. Of course Mrs.Porter wasn't going to let her sixteen year old daughter drive to the airport by herself to pick up two more sixteen year olds. Plus Mrs.Porter has a surprise for Gina. One of Mrs.Porters friends was arriving today too, it wasn't just going to be a good Christmas for Gina.

Gina didn't complain though because her mom let her drive her car. Gina had always wanted to drive her moms car, it was an amazing Model Y Tesla. Who wouldn't want to drive it. Of course it came from her moms company but she wasn't complaining. It looked pretty dope to have a Tesla in the driveway every night.

"So wait Vanna's mom is coming too? Which one?"
Mrs.Porter chuckled at this.

"Alexis is coming with the girls. I haven't seen her in a long time so we decided you guys can catch up and do your girls things while we do ours"

Gina nods her head and keeps her lips tight. She was just wondering about the room situation. They had two guest bedrooms not three. So either someone had to stay with her or Vanna and her mom shared a room.

"Plus I figured you and Astrid would love sharing a room"

Well her question was answered. Gina was shocked though, her mom barely wanted Astrid in the house when they were in New York. Granted she hasn't told her mom they had broken up, but she was shocked because in her mother's mind, she's letting her daughter sleep in the same room as her girlfriend.

"Mom Astrid and I broke up."

Gina's blunt confession startled Mrs. Porter. She simply turned to look at her daughter and smiled.

"I'm sorry to hear that babe. Are you guys okay?"

Gina nodded. She wouldn't tell her mom just how long they had been broken up for. She loved her mom but she wasn't close to her to even speak to her about the break up when it happened, why would she now.

"Of course! We got over it long ago"

Gina's mom simply nodded and turned to look at the three girls making their way towards them. As soon as Astrid and Vanna caught sight of Gina they ran to her and jumped on her. Alexis chuckled and dragged their stuff with her and greeted Mrs.Ported who got the girls stuff as well.

"We're finally back bitches!" Astrid let out and the moms gave her a pointed looked before she said it again this time in a whisper.

Gina laughed and Vanna couldn't control the smile on her face. She was finally back with her two best friends, she loved Austin but if she was honest she was tired of either third wheeling or being involved in another one of Austin and Astrid's fights.

The girls made their way into the car and quickly picked up their rhythm again. It's like they hadn't spent months away from each other. The girls were sad when they found out Gina was moving right as freshman year finished and that they couldn't do anything they planned over the summer.

But that seemed like it never happened. The girls all laughed and Gina looked the happiest her mom had seen her in a while. Alexis and Isabella were having their own conversation about their kids that the girls were completely unaware of.

"How's Gina taking the move?"

Isabella sighed. "She doing much better than I anticipated. She's become friends with these two really great kids, and it warms my heart because I haven't seen her open up like that since..."

Mrs.Porter couldn't finish her sentence but Mrs.Alexander understood what she meant. Years later and her husband's, Gina's dads, death still hit both of them hard.

"What about her old friend? Ricky?"

She shook her head and smiled a little.

"She's been trying not to let it get to her. She's not giving him or his friends the time of day. But his mom finally told him the truth and he now understands why Gina and I had to move. He's been trying to win her back"

"As in romantically?" Alexis laughed a little at her question. They all knew that Gina wasn't interested in guys, like at all.

"Oh no. His little friend though, I think her name is Nini. She's trying to win her over that way. Gina keeps a lot from me but I have eyes and I notice things"

Alexis laughs and agrees with her. Vanna didn't tell her anything, she didn't speak to her most of the time but she noticed things about her daughter. Especially because Vanna hasn't been herself lately and she hoped that being here with Gina would help her out. So maybe Vanna wasn't 100% into guys like she claimed and her moms noticed it. They couldn't help their daughter as much as they wanted to, Vanna needed to figure it out on her own and come to terms with it. Of course her moms would be okay with it, I mean she did have two of them.

"Ricky's trying though. He's been trying for the past two months but Gina isn't giving him the time of day anymore."

"I mean that's acceptable. Vanna has told Ellie about the things that, that kid has pulled. Eventually though I think they'll all make up. And who knows maybe Gina will end up letting herself fall for this Nini girl"

Both mothers looked through the rear view mirror and saw the girls deep in conversation. In their own little world just talking like they hadn't seen each other in years, which to a teenager that's what months felt like.

"Who knows. I just want what's best for her. Right now it's getting her to fully accept that Ryan is gone. It's been years and she still hasn't been to visit his grave."

Isabella sighed. Her husband was an amazing person and everyone knew that. The real reason, Vanna and Gina met wasn't because of Astrid. Granted they met in school because of her but they hit it off as friends because of their parents. Truth is Ryan, Gina's father, had been friends with Ellie, Vanna's other mom, and that meant that Isabella long knew the girls mothers.

They decided to 'accidentally' push their kids into becoming friends by bringing them to a work party. Granted Gina knew her moms plan all along but she didn't mind. Vanna was an amazing friend and the Alexander's are an amazing family.

"Gina still needs time. She needs to talk about it, Vanna said she was close to fully opening up to Astrid but then the break up happened. Apparently they both moved on too quickly. Astrid is dating Austin now"

Isabella took her eyes off the road for a split second. Gina could think her mom didn't know anything about her but she did. And she already knew they were broken up even if Gina didn't tell her. She's her daughter and Isabella knows her better than she lets on.

"Shit. They seem like they're okay now."

"Oh no they are. Gina helped Austin ask Astrid out. And I only know this because Ellie tells me everything Vanna tells her. Who are Gina's new friends though?"

Alexis wondered because that's the one thing Vanna had told her. That Gina really loved her new friends here in Salt Lake City.

"The Caswell kids. EJ and Ashlyn. I'm incredibly happy she met them, Ryan loved Maxwell Caswell. So seeing her click with them really just warmed my heart. Especially because they really are amazing kids. They've helped Gina open up a lot."

The rest of the drive was really just the parents talking about their girls. While the girls had no clue that it was even happening. On the drive over though it was decided that Vanna would room with Gina because Astrid did like her personal space. And Vanna missed Gina a shit ton.

Not to mention, Vanna had something up her sleeve that not even her mom knew about.

Nini did take Carlos' advice and reached out to the girl. Vanna loved the commitment from Nini about breaking Gina's walls. And frankly she wouldn't be helping if she knew that Nini didn't really care for her friend.

Vanna saw through Nini's own clueless act. The girl was falling for Gina and fast. She didn't question it though because she too knows what it's like to fall for an unexpected and unprecedented person.

Vanna just hoped that Gina wouldn't catch on quickly. She had Carlos in this mission as well and she wanted to pull it off without giving Gina any hint. She knew she could do it but Christmas was now two days away and she was rooming with Gina.

Vanna pushed the thoughts to the back of her head as she laughed along to Astrid's story about her lacrosse team. And she joined in the conversation by talking to Gina about how the Trinity's girl soccer team was doing. Astrid cursed under her breath in Spanish because she knew that the mention of soccer would start a full blown conversation about the sport, she didn't play.
