It's been a month since my run in with Kakashi. I had been at Iruka's all weekend, after being gone for three weeks straight. It was a good distraction for for me, but it wasn't fair to Iruka. Iruka gave me a kiss as I headed out the door. He was headed to the academy and I was off to TIF.

"Y/n."

"Hm?" I hummed as I spun to see who called my name.

"Lady Tsunade has sent for you."

"Thank you, Tenzo. Let Ibiki know I'll be late."

Tenzo gave a short bow and vanished. I turned to make my way to Tsunade, unsure of why she would be asking for me. Maybe she has a mission for me. I shoved my hands in my pockets and continued walking to her office.

"You wanted to see me?" I spoke as I walked in through the opened doors.

"Yes. I have a mission I need you to take."

"Okay."

"There has been an Akatsuki sighting near the border. You've seen multiple of them up close, so I wanted to send you out. This is merely a scouting mission. Information retrieval only."

"If I run into them, they aren't going to just let me walk away." I countered.

"You won't be alone."

"Rowan and Sage aren't available, it's mating season for them."

"That's not what she means." I went stiff. No.

"Tsunade." My tone was harsh.

"Don't. I need you two to work together here. You're the fastest in the village and two of the strongest. Your combat style and jutsu knowledge fits together. You're really the best team we have. I'd honestly say together, you're the strongest team I could possibly put together."

Her words were the truth. Even though we hadn't fought side by side in years, we worked well together. Our ANBU training made us knowledgeable and swift. Our chakra nature, his Sharingan, and my arrows- we'd be unstoppable. Should be, anyway.

"Yes ma'am." I responded.

"No protest?" She arched a brow in surprise.

"It won't do any good. And you're right, we are the best team you could possibly put together. We'll be fine." I spoke.

"I agree." His voice sounded distant and uninterested.

"You leave in an hour. Here's the information on the most recent sighting." She held out a scroll which I took.

"Thank you." I turned to leave, not even glancing at my comrade for the next... "How long are you wanting us to search?" I looked over my shoulder.

"Two weeks." She was shuffling papers around.

Fuck.

"Okay." I continued my way out.

"Where are you going?"

I finally turned to look at Kakashi and found that his eye was stern, unwavering and distant. "Home. And to tell Iruka I'm leaving for two weeks."

"Home?" He said dryly.

"I have an apartment." I shot back. "Ya know, the one you pre-paid three months for?" I could see him flinch, just barely.

"I figured you'd eventually move back."

"I'm hardly ever in the village. But I still use the apartment. Thank you for paying for it. I'll meet you at the gates." I started walking away.

"I'm already packed, I'll come with you."
