[On the Same Team]

"Kei!"

"Middle, middle!"

BOOM

"Nice one!"

"That's them alright, the twins."

"'Oni Hime", was what she was called?"

"Yeah, the girl has a stupid amount of power."

"It seems like most kids don't like her."

"Oh, you did hear? She--"

As I lay on my bed this memory comes to mind, 'ugh why am I thinking about this? That was years ago', I think silently by myself. I let out a sigh, then I get up from my bed and go to the kitchen.

"Let's see," I say as I open up the fridge. "Hmm, left over ramen, curry, buttered veggies, bread. What else?" I close the door and look around.

"Oranges, avocado, bananas, almonds, melopan's, senbei's, hmm Nutella spread and also rice." I pause and think for a bit, staring into the counter top almost as though it would have melted from my gaze.

(Senbei is Japanese rice crackers that come in a variety of flavours, and Melopan another Japanese snack that is a sweet bun.)

"Don't think too hard, you'll get a headache."

A familiar voice breaks my thoughts, I turn to him and scold him.

"Kei! I almost had my perfect dinner ready in mind."

At this he breaks a laugh then gives his reply.

"Sorry, go back to your thinking before you get mad, Oni Hime."

"Watch it." I snap back.

"Yes, yes I'll get out of your hair soon."

He grabs a banana and starts to eat it, giving me silence to think.

'Hmm I'm feeling rice, some curry and buttered veggies. Ooo yes, hmm what else. Bread's too heavy to eat at this point....Ah! Melopan and end it off with an orange! Perfect!'

My face lights up and I start to get my dishes ready to eat. Once I finished gathering everything I sit down at the table and eat.

Kei comes out with a dish of his own, but his was ramen and senbei. He sits down next to me and starts to eat. Once we finished eating, we stay there for a bit, staring at nothing. Then Kei decides to break the ice.

"So? Have you decided?"

"Nope, but I'd preferably like to go where you go. But we both know that I can't."

"Yeah, we don't want Mom and Dad to worry, not like last time."

"Hey I keep my promises, remember?"

"Yeah, yeah, you and your promises. So, do you know where you're going?"

"Nope, I don't know if I'll have an option anytime soon." I say with a shrug.

"Alright, you should go talk to Mom about it when you're ready."

"Yes, yes I will. Don't go worrying your little salty head about it."

"Hey! Ugh, fine whatever, Chibi."

"Why you little!"

He dashed away to his room before I could pummel him. That brat doesn't respect me, and I'm the older one. Well he is my brother so, it's normal, I think.

School is in, what three weeks? I have time. I looking through one of the letters of the many schools that wanted me for their volleyball team, but decided I wanted to start fresh. Somewhere where people don't know me personally. So with my mind made up I talked to my mom about it. It was a little hard to convince her, but she eventually gave in. After all in the end it was my choice where to go.

"But it's farther isn't it away?"

"Yes, yes it is. But I'll have a better chance starting new there."

"Well, yes that's true. Oh, I don't know, maybe I just don't like the though of you being away."

"I could stay at Auntie Ren's place and I could work for her as my rent payment."

"Well, are you really sure this is what you want honey?"

"Positive."

"Sigh, in that case I really have no choice then. I'll call up her and fix the details."

"Oh, don't tell Kei, he doesn't know yet, but I wanna surprise him."

"You reaally love your surprises, huh? Alright, alright I promise not to tell."

"Thanks Mom." I pull her into a hug.

"My daughter's getting all grown up." She says basically into my ear.
