It was very early in the morning. No one else was awake but Zelda. She quickly and quietly got changed into her travel clothes and snuck out. She grabbed her horse storm and started to travel twords the shrine she saw the other day. Such an interest she took in this ancient technology. She had her study book close to her side in one hand and the other was holding the reigns. Link had woken to the sound of birds and bustling of the castle. He noticed Zelda was gone when she hadn't come by for her morning stroll. He quickly realized she had gone and he too snuck out. He didn't want the king to know he failed at doing his one job. He lost the princess.
Zelda was kneeing twords the shrine. Link could see her in the distance. The sun was high and noon was approaching. "Nothing just as I thought. Hmm...it appears that this structure was designed to be exclusively accessed by the swords chosen one." Zelda cringed a little at saying that. "But designs can always be worked around...at least I hope." Zelda stood to look around the shrine. Link had come around the little hill to see Zelda. He quietly got off his horse which she hadn't noticed him. "How do I get inside...I need to activate it somehow." Links horse whined and Zelda knew who it was. She let out a heavy sigh and whipped around. In an angry tone she scolded Link. "I thought I made it clear that I am not in need of an escort. It seems that I'm the only one with a mind of my own." Zelda had turned back around to look at the shrine while talking. "I-the princess in question am fine, regardless of the kings orders." Zelda again turned to face link and walk twords her horse. "Return to the castle and tell that to my father please." Link moved forward and got on his horse. Zelda rolled her eyes when she noticed and yelled "and stop following me!" She started off twords the castle. Link quickly caught up but decided to give her space and walk behind her. All he could think about was what happened. What did I do? Why is she mad? She's mad because she's independent and doesn't need me. But what else? There had to be some other reason she's angry. Link thought to himself. He looked at Zelda and how beautiful she was. If only he could find the courage to talk to her not that she wanted too.
Link had put the horses away. He patted Storm and quietly spoke to both horses. "Why must she hate me? I didn't do anything? I just want to help her and talk." The horses whined and Link went off to dinner.
At dinner Zelda sat farthest away from Link. It was awkward. Her father talked mostly. "Zelda you need to stop worrying about these beasts and focus on your training. You need to get your powers!" She mumbled something under her breath but her father didn't hear. It wasn't until they were almost finished that her father bluntly said "fulfill your destiny and be like Link." Link looked up immediately. Zelda stood up and excused herself and ran to her room. Link quickly finished. He wanted to comfort her but knew she wouldn't want that. He walked past her door and heard her silently weeping to herself. "Why can't I fulfill my destiny? Why can't I get my powers? Why? Why?!" Over and over she said this to herself. Link let one tear fall but showed no other emotions. He just wanted to help her. He decided it was best to go to bed but his mind just raced with thoughts of her. Neither could sleep that night.
