I looked over at Alice, laughing and smiling. I honestly couldn’t imagine her looking any different than she did right now. Then again, I couldn’t imagine anyone looking different than what they did right now. It made perfect sense though. I stared at my hands, looking for a change, a difference…anything. Sadly, the world just never made things easy for us, it wouldn’t start now.

At least I had come to a conclusion. Now that I figured it out, maybe the book would help us some more. I let myself relax for right now and enjoy Alice’s good mood.

“Tackle hug!” Kate, David, Alex and Alec yelled.

I gave under the weight of four people attempting to do a dog pile on me. There were limbs, shouts and laughs coming from every direction as I tried to get out. Once I had pried everyone off of me, I found Alice on the floor, clutching her sides, tears running down her face, laughing.

“Why did you guys do that?” I asked, curious.

“Why not?” Kate replied, ever the childish.

“’Cause we wanted to!” David shouted, laughing.

The kids simply smiled up at me. I grabbed them and started tickling the two of them, because they were easier targets than Kate or David, since both of them kicked around too hard.

“Mommy, help us!” They cried out, in between laughs.

Alice was laughing too hard to help them and Kate and David were unsympathetic, while mom and dad were just watching everything unfold, not wanting to get caught up in all of this. I didn’t either, but they had forced my hand.

“Mercy!” Alex shouted, trying to stop laughing.

“Uncle!” Alec cried out, in the same position as Alex.

I thought I should be nice on them, since this was their first time, that and my fingers were cramping up. So I released them and they ran away, still laughing.

“They’re so energetic. Who fed them candy?” I got up.

Kate and David both pointed at each other, mischievously. I rolled my eyes, obviously knowing that it would be these two.

“No more.” I glared at them playfully.

They didn’t even have the decency to act bashful. They gave me grins and dashed off. Alice’s smiling face made everything worth it. I smiled back, wishing that we could stay this happy forever. I knew that as soon as we got home and got our answers, everything would fall into place, as if the last puzzle piece had been put into place. I just felt like that would happen if we just figured out what our true form was.

I would find a secluded place to figure this out, as soon as breakfast is done. I wanted everyone to have fun, which is why I wouldn’t mention it to anyone else until I knew that this could be accomplished, not even Alice. I knew I usually always told her everything but I didn’t want to give her hope and then let her down. I pressed my lips against her cheek as her smiling face turned into a blushing one. Soon everyone turned to their own activities.

“Do you want to spend the day with the kids or me?” I asked, pulling her close to me.

“Can’t I do both?” She frowned at having to decide.

“Of course you can, but later, because I have some business to attend to first. The kids wouldn’t want to come and I don’t want to take them away from their fun. So would you like to come with me or stay with the kids?” I asked.

Since I mentioned business I knew Alice would be the sweet girl she is and decline because she was worried about disturbing me.

“I don’t want to bug you since its business…” She trailed off.

I smiled as the answer I expected left her lips.

“You could never bug me but if you want to stay with the kids I’ll see you in a couple hours.” I kissed her head and left.

“I’m going out!” I shouted so everyone in the house could hear me.

A bunch of goodbye’s and have funs were echoed through the house. This is just the norm in the house now.

I grabbed the car keys and left in a car. I don’t even know where I was going until I arrived. It was the area where I told Alice what exactly I was, an alien. Of course this spot would be special to me. It made perfect sense that I would be drawn to this place.

I sat down on the grass and just tried to relax. I didn’t want anything hindering me so I just emptied my mind. Surprisingly, it was easy. I didn’t think it would be since Alice and I are always thinking of something. I just let everything go and it came naturally.

I don’t know the mechanics, nor do I want to know. I just know that it worked. When I opened my eyes, I looked at my hands and body. I was pretty much the same, only I was…purple! My hands and feet were slightly webbed, but only a little. My eyes were now red, though I didn’t know if that was going to be Alice’s trait too or if it was just mine. What if every alien was different looking? What if Alice looked different than I do?

This day just got 10x more confusing and weird. What was I going to do about this??
