Diary Of A Single Father

I looked at the time slowly.Jade has promised to come back home in time for Adam's showcase,I sat at the airport waiting nd tapping my feet until 15 minutes before the showcase,I hurriedly entered a cab and dialled Jade's number.

"Jade?"I called.

"Babe I'm so so sorry I couldn't make it..I got called back at the site..there were major issues at the shoot"he said.

I cut the call and silently cried as the driver took me to Adam's school.

I paid the driver and tried to go into the school auditorium.they refused me and took me to the principal's office.

"Mr Stevens..we can't allow you in there unless we get a call from your husband"the principal Mrs style told me.

"What do you mean?you know me..you know I'm Adam's father..you can't do this to me"I shouted.

"I know but Adam only wrote in Jade Stevens as guardian..we can only allow him..but because I know you ..I'll allow a call.if only he speaks to me"she smiled.

I desperately called Jade but after six minutes,he couldn't pick up.

"I'm sorry .Mr stevens"Mrs style said and walked out.

I sat at a chair outside until the door opened and students started piling out with their parents.Adam came out alone.our eyes met.

"Adam.."I called.

"Don't..don't talk to me..one thing.just a thing..you couldn't do it for me"he shouted.

"Why didn't you write my name?I'm always here for you..why couldn't you write my name as your guardian.."I demanded.

"And tell my friends my dad is a what?house husband..a What?..nothing..not a thing"he shouted and ran out on me.

"Are you okay?"someone asked me.

I turned into the person and started crying into his firm chest.he held me as I let out my pent out emotion.he took me to his car as I cried until I was done.

"I'm sorry"I hiccuped embarrassingly.

"Its okay.you're going to have problem with that kid..you Need to talk to him calmly"he smiled.

I looked into his brown deep eyes.he had a pointed nose and his black lips suited his fair face.
"Thank you"I Said.

"You're welcome"he gave me a kind smile.

I climbed down from his car.
"My name is..."I turned around but he drove off.
I sighed and entered a cab

I entered the house,Ann was eating,I wondered how she got the food.

"Welcome back"Ann muttered with her mouth stuffed with food.

"Where did you get that?:I asked sitting down.

"Adam gave it to you..it's the showcase left over..he made chicken pasta..it's really delicious...I didn't know your son was into cooking"Ann said.

"I didn't see you at school today and you didn't tell me Adam signed up for cooking"I said.

"Dad..I had tennis practice..if Adam didn't want you to know he is interested in cooking..it's not my place to tell..and the food is delicious"Ann shruggled.

"Is..is he back?"I looked up.

"Um yeah..dad was on the phone with me when he got back so they spoke"Ann nodded.

"Mmm..why isn't everyone so easy like you?"I asked.

"I don't know..I think it's cos I'm alot like you...thanks for dinner..I have homework"she stood up.

"Homework?common Ann you don't do homeworks..you watch sports all day and copy from Adam"I smiled.

"Night"she kissed me and ran to her room

  I switched off the light and sat down in the dark.
I wondered what Jade was doing.I missed my husband so much.I remember the first time I saw him.he was in an argument with cece and I tried to make peace.
He had ignored cece immediately and asked for my number.I refused but he followed me for two weeks before I gave in to him.
"Daddy"Adam's voice jolted me up.

"Adam"I stood up.

"Its late..go to your room"he said.

"Adam I'm real sorry about today"I said.

"No dad..I'm sorry too..I embarrased you in front of everyone..that was bad of me"he said.I couldn't make out his face but I knew he had a shy smile.

"Did you talk to your papa okay?"I asked.

"Yeah..he'll be back soon .he's taking care of business"he said.

"Okay.."I looked at him.
He gave me a quick hug.

"Goodnight"he ran upstairs.

"Goodnight..I love you"I shouted.

"Someone is trying to sleep here..go to bed"Ann shouted from her room.I smiled happily.
