My Secret Temptation

Maia's POV

Dad came home with his head held low like all the life had been removed from him.

"Hi daddy. How was your day?" My voice barely above a whisper.

"I went to see Xavier today." Both my mother and I shot up from our seats.

I had only seen Xavier at school. And sure we kept talking... but very briefly. He only spent time with me when Kaia was around. I didn't know where he was living and if he was okay. The only thing I knew was that some movers came last week to get his stuff. His room is empty as if he never lived here.

"Did he say where he's staying? How is he Gabriel?" My mom had been a mess since he left.

She cries in the shower now. Her and dad's relationship is beginning to become strained.

"He bought a penthouse. It's gorgeous. He was in New York today on Wall Street. Rung the bell and everything. He signed a huge deal with Coleman a few weeks ago." My father sat with his face in his palms.

"Coleman? But you've been trying to convince him to make a deal since your started the company." My mom helped him take of his jacket.

"Well. He managed to convince him. A 56.7 million dollar deal can you believe that. He's only had the company in his hands for a short amount of time and he's already accomplishing things I couldn't have." I saw his eyes begin to water.

"56.7 million dollars." I muttered trying to imagine what Xavier must have said to convince Coleman.

"We messed up Tasha. Badly. He doesn't want anything to do with us. He's done. And I don't think he'll ever come back to us." For the first time in my life, I saw my father cry.

"God Gabriel, I told you not to push him so hard! I told you! OUR son doesn't want anything to do with us. How many times I told you to go to his games make sure you'd tell him 'I love you' before bed, and you never did." Tears streamed down my mothers delicate face.

I felt my own eyes water. "How'd you know he rung the bell?"

"Kaia was at his apartment. She's doing his designing."

"Kaia? Why? I thought they didn't get along without me?" My eyebrows scrunched as I tried to figure out why they had been spending time together.

"How am I supposed to know Maia!? I have bigger issues than Kaia!" He yelled causing me to jump out of fear.

"You know, mom's right you guys shouldn't have pushed him so far from a really family. Maybe then he'd understand how much you guys apparently love him." I walked to the front door and slammed it.

I really need to straighten out some details with Kaia. Something felt wrong. They never spent that much time together. I mean yes, they're somewhat friends. But never that close.

Kaia's POV

Vibrations on Xavier's bedside table caused both of us to wake up. Sure it was late in the day but we were up late doing... stuff.

He groaned "No, babe let it ring. Come snuggle with me a little longer."

"It could be a designer coming with the couch." I picked up my phone and answered. Xavier's long arms wrapped around my waist as I reached toward the table.
