"Two glazed and a maple bar. I'd get rid of one of those before that animal comes to" Hank laughed pointing at Adam fast asleep in the tiny hospital chair.
"I would have gotten dressed. I would have..." I mumbled.
"You look great. Really. Healthy." He half laughed "Gotta tell me what it feels like sometime, you know, catching all that lead. Never had the pleasure. CPD is a funny place. Don't always get it right, but when you get shot... Your next position is up to you. Ordinarily, I don't allow for relationships in my unit, but in this case, I'm willing to make an exception. You two think you can handle it... It's yours."
"I don't even..." I started babbling "Thank you, Sir. Sergeant, I..."
"Mckenzie, just rest. Think about it. Okay." He smiled placing his hand on my arm giving it a quick squeeze before he left the room.
"Are you talking to somebody?" Adam mumbled still half asleep.
"To... yeah, just, um, one of the nurses." I smiled watching him settle back down.
"Is everything all right?"
"Yeah, everything's... go back to sleep"
Not long later Kevin walked in the room.
"You finally came to see me" I half laughed putting my phone down.
"I didn't want to see my lil sis laying unconscious you know" he sighed taking my hand.
"I get it" I smiled "I'm ok now"
"Good now let's talk about the sleeping elephant in the room" he laughed looking over at Adam who was now starting to wake up.
"Man keep your voice down I'm tryna sleep" Adam groaned rubbing his eyes.
"It's time to wake up ruz" Kev laughed. "So who finally confessed?"
"It was me and I made sure it was short and sweet" Adam grinned as he sat up.
"You yelled, So listen here you little shit I have feelings for you and its about time I acknowledged them from a balcony of a coffee shop" I laughed
"It worked though, didn't it" he smirked coming over and kissing my forehead.
"Good it's about time you two came to your senses" Kev laughed. "However if you do anything to hurt or make my bear unhappy then imma bust your balls"
"Copy that" Adam laughed "now I have a question I've wanted to ask for a while now, so you two are half siblings right?"
"Yeah we share the same dead beat mom" Kev said rolling his eyes.
"You want to know how it works with me being white and Kev being black don't you" I laughed.
"Yeah kinda" Adam shrugged.
"Well my biological dad is white and it can happen a mixed raced couple having a white baby, but the chances are one in a million" I said "so I'm what you call rare"
"You definitely are rare" Kev smirked.
"Sooooo when can I go home?" I asked.
"In a couple of days, you are gonna stay with me for a bit cuz you will need help" Adam smiled.
A couple of hours had passed and much to the boys despise the nurse kicked them out of my room because technically visiting hours where over but being part of CPD they let it slide.
"Try and get some sleep Blair" my nurse smiled at me before turning the main light off and closing the door.
I wasn't tired yet, it was only 9pm so I pulled my phone out to see a message off Adam.

A couple more hours passed of us sending texts back an forth, each one made me smile. I know we had only be a couple for like 2 days but with the whole friends with benefits we had going on it was more like 7 months. Things just felt right when I was around him.
