27 & 28 May 1967
The audience was filled with upper-class drunkards at the May Ball for Pembroke College. Not only were the men and women drunk, they also felt the need to complain about the volume of The Who's music and how they cannot dance to it. This upset the four bandmates. It especially upset Keith.
As Danica watched from the sidelines, she could see how his brown eyes were essentially bulging out of their sockets. The rest of the group appeared irate too. Pete and Roger both had an irritated expressions, while John remained stoic as usual.
Although the group could foresee this occurring, they agreed to play the mediocre gig for the money.
Rather than be in a bad mood, Danica wanted to take a picture of the crowd. She was humored by their annoyed faces and how it did not flatter their gowns and tailored suits. She unpacked her tripod and set it up, attaching her camera. Once everything was positioned correctly, she screwed in the shutter release cable. Danni peered through the viewfinder before pressing the shutter release cable and giving it enough time to properly expose the photograph.
After capturing the scene, she decided to capture the end of their set. She could see the pent up aggression in all of them as they played through their final song. The auto-destruction began quickly. Pete began destroying his Fender Stratocaster, and Roger began grinding his microphone against Keith's cymbals. Luckily, he was fast enough to get out of Keith's way when he hurled his Premier drum kit into the audience. John even through his bass on the ground.
Though she feared the possibility of having blurry photographs due to the lighting and fast movement of the band members, she remained optimistic since she wasn't pummeled by Keith's flying drum set.
The four made their way off stage and heard the wrath of one of the university's board members for putting their students in harm's way. However, Keith, the one who caused the most damaged, was not listening. Keith would normally find a way to talk himself out of trouble, but he was too focused on the sharp, aching pain in his abdomen. Keith could hardly keep himself from groaning in pain.
Once the man seemed to run out of synonyms for hooligans, he left the band to attend to his students. Too much standing caused Keith to topple over in pain. He cupped the perturbing knot on his side is his hand and he wallowed I'm the floor. This finally brought the attention of his three bandmates.
"Keith?" Roger turned around and looked down at him.
"What's wrong?" John asked, kneeling next to him.
"Let me see your side," Pete told, kneeling alongside John and trying to pry Keith's hand off his abdomen.
Pete quickly found the source of Keith's pain. When he lifted Keith's shirt, he could see a large lump, protruding from his side.
