You're Such a Dream to Me{Benny x reader}

First POV
Today's the day, ohh man am I nervous. I got ready, I put on my softball jersey from my old school with jeans and my black PF flyers, I bought two because why not.  It was 7 AM and the game started at 9 AM. I ate a light but delicious breakfast of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and went to brush my teeth. By that time it was already 8:20 AM, Benny should be here any moment.

As I heard a knock at my door, I told my mother I was leaving. I ran to the front door and opened it to see a smiling Benny with a nervous Smalls behind him.
"Hey guys, y'all ready?"
"As we'll ever be." Smalls replied with a nervousness obvious in his tone. I gave him a soft smile and started walking out. I felt Benny grab my hand and entwined his fingers with mine as we walked to the sandlot.

We gathered in the dugout and got our things ready. I grabbed my glove, visor, and water bottle and put them on my spot on the bench and set my backpack under the bench. Just like my first game with Phillip, I was nervous with my leg bouncing up and down. I took two deep breaths and heard Mr.Dallan announce the beginning of the game. "May you please stand and join for the pledge of allegiance." We stood up and put our hand over our heart, mine in which was pounding rapidly. If we don't win this, we're losing this place for good. We finished up and ran to our bases. I jogged to centerfield and got ready, Phillip was first to bat. He got ready in position and waited for DeNunez to give him a pitch. DeNunez threw the ball and made the first strike.
"Strike one!" Ham said but was quickly interrupted by Phillips.
"Shut it porter!"
A small smirk grew on my lips.

A new player stepped on the base, ready to hit. None of us knew the new players or how they played for that matter but we decided to stay calm. DeNunez gave him The Heater and to our surprise, the guy hit it perfectly, sending it far. The ball was hurling towards me and began to slightly panic. I attempted to catch it but to my dismay, I missed it. I felt every song eye on my as I sprinted to the putter field to retrieve the ball.
Shit.
I threw it to my cut and the ball returned to the pitcher.
"It's alright y/n, just keep your head in the game."
I nodded at Bertram and kept my eye on the ball. For the remainder of their inning all the balls didn't reach my position which I was semi relieved for. It was finally our turn to bat, we started of great, I sprinted every base and made it to home every time, however we were still losing by 2 points however, I haven't given up hope just yet.  I grabbed my bat and got ready in position, I swung at Phillip's pitch and sent the ball to the outer field. I sprinted each base and made it safely to home plate, scoring one more point. We just needed a couple more to win.

It was now Phillips inning, "hey y/n? How 'bout you move to 2nd base this time." Benny came up to me. I looked up and nodded.
Oooh yesss
I ran to the base and waited for it to start. DeNunez threw the first pitch and the guy hit it to right field, luckily, Bertram caught it. The second guy up to hit however hit the ball lower and I was able to catch the grounder and I threw it to first base, taking the guy out. The guys cheered, "Alright y/n!"
"Yea yea! That's how it's done!"
I smiled to myself and felt pride. After two more batters, Phillips was up to hit. He hit the ball to third base, luckily we caught it and then it was thrown to me, I turned and took the runner out.
Boom bitch
I smirked, making the runner glare at me, I could swear he mumbled something about me but I didn't care, he's the one that's out, not me.

This was the last inning for the game and we were tied with only 10 minutes left. I took at deep breath and looked from the dugout. Benny was up first, I admired his stance and his concentrated face. His eyes focused like if this pitch was a matter of life and death. I slightly bit my lip but cleared my thoughts and remained focused at the matter at hand. Just as I looked back to the field I realized ham was already up to bat. Because he's not much of a fast runner he only made it to second base, which is not bad. Bertram got the ball and cleared the bases, earning us two more points with 5 minutes remaining. After Smalls, it was DeNunez, then yeah yeah, Timmy, tommy, squints, and then me. I stood on the base ready to hit and just like the first time, I missed the first pitch. Phillips threw the second pitch and I hit it with so much force, the wooden bat broke in half. The whole team, including Phillips looked at me in shock.
Now's my chance.
I sprinted faster than ever, the wind hitting my face, my feet slipping through the dirt, making me almost slip. As I was at 2nd base the ball somehow was already in the hands of the first baseman. He threw it to the catcher and now I was caught in a pickle. I ran back and forth, I was already getting exhausted but I didn't want to give up. Once the 3rd baseman caught the ball, I juked him and sprinted for the last base, barely making it, I slid t home base and won the game.
My heart pounded loudly I was sure everyone could hear. I caught my breath and drank all my water.
"YESS LETS GOOO!!!"
Mr. Dallan announced excitedly, "the sandlot team won! The sandlot is saved!"
Mr. Murphy look pissed but quickly hid it while he began to clap.
"Nice job kiddos, didn't think you had it in you."
"Yea well, done underestimate anyone, even if they are only a bunch of 12-13 year olds." I scowled at him.
He glared at me,"hmph."

That night I I walked home with just Benny. "Y/n, i know this is gonna sound cheesy but, I really love you."
"I know." I smiled at him and gave him a passionate kiss. He kissed back and placed his hand on the small of my back. We broke apart to catch air and gave each other a strong hug. "Thanks to you, the sandlot is saved."
"No Benny, thanks to all of us." The Stars twinkled in his eyes like diamonds, I swore I could see the whole galaxy.
"You're such a Dream Benny."
"I could say the same to you." We hugged one last time and he was off to his house. I entered my home got ready for bed and crashed on my bed, falling asleep within minutes.
