And this is where Sock intervened, "Why do you keep abandoning us to go hang out with the sad sap?"

"He's not-" You bristled, if you had feathers they would have definitely been ruffled right then. "A sad sap, Sock. He's shy. And I'm not abandoning you! I spend everyday of every week with you guys, what's so wrong with me branching away for a few minutes to try and cheer up Shy?"

"Cheer up?" Sock laughed one loud bark, "Come on, the bastard barely even acknowledges your existence."

"Really?!-"

Doc stopped dead in the road, raising his hands up with a pissed off sneer on his face, "Quit! Stop your bickering, Sock it really is alright if they spends lunch with another person."

"Oh, now you're taking their side? Fine." And Sock stalked away.

"Sock- damn it..." Doc sighed a sigh that bordered a groan and turned to you apologetically, "I'm sorry, you know how he gets..."

You released a pent up breath for yourself, unwinding the stress that suddenly appeared on your shoulders. "I.. I know, tell him I'm sorry? When you see him? I'm sure he won't talk to me for a while, now."

"I will, [Name]... go on ahead, I'll go find the dramatic ass."

You raised a hand as he left and turned to go towards the cafeteria, feeling guilty. You knew you had a life outside of the group but Sock made it so hard with his jealous, and quite frankly manipulative, tendencies.

When you arrived at lunch you spilled these thoughts to the silent Shy Guy. "I love him like I would an older brother, you know?" You groaned, pushing the tray away and laying your head on the table, "But I have a life outside of our friend group I mean- I feel so bad but I can't spend every minute of everyday with him..."

You trailed off when you heard a sniffle.

Slowly you raised your head, muttering, "Shy?"

"I'm sorry..."

The first words you heard out of the boy called 'Shy Guy' were 'I'm sorry'.

You started so hard your knee banged into the table and you released a string of curses in your head but you were too stunned to say anything. People turned back to their table mates when nothing interesting happened for a long moment.

"You shouldn't have bothered with me... I'm only making things worse." He sniffed and you released pretty quickly that the boy was crying. He was covering his face with his hands, head bowed, and just quietly crying.

"Wha- n-no, Shy, I'm sorry!" You yelped, getting a shot of adrenaline straight to your heart. "Oh, Shy, please don't cry.. I didn't realize I was upsetting you." You wanted to comfort him somehow- in any way but you were afraid that touching him would make things worse so you anxiously clasped your hands together in your lap.

"I'm sorry, my stupid friend drama isn't something you should concern yourself over." You muttered, "It is so not your fault, you didn't ask for me to come over here and bother you."

You heard him sniff again and caught sight of him rapidly wiping his face dry of any tears, "R-Really? You're not.. angry at me?"

"Wha- why would I be angry?" You managed to crack a smile, "Do I seem like an angry person?"

"...No?"

"I get really annoyed, but not angry, alright?" Your smile slipped, "I really am sorry about upsetting you."

"It... it's okay." He whispered hoarsely, refusing to look at you and that was just fine with you. You were afraid you were going to make him start crying again so you quickly changed the subject, "Hey... are you.. are you busy this weekend?"

"No..?" You saw a pale blue eyes flick up to look at you but when you looked back, he quickly turned away. You swore you saw a bit of a pinkish flush against his pale skin and smiled a bit to yourself.

"Everyone's busy this Saturday and, to be honest," You leaned in a bit, shielding your mouth from the rest of the cafeteria as if you were telling a huge, mega secret that no one else could know, "I can't stand being alone."

You perked back and sat back, grinning broadly, "Want to come over to my house?"

"U-Um.." He sort of shrunk into himself.

"Shy, it's really okay if you don't want to- I'm sorry, you literally just began talking to me. I move too fast, I know." You assured, turning to stare at the clock. Lunch was about over.

Shy was quiet for a moment but you could practically see the gears working in his brain. "Just.. us?"

"If you want, or I could invite someone over, like Cain? He's really nice and understanding, plus I'm sure he'll be glad to get away from his brother." You thought more, "Doc is pretty shy, too, actually..." You mumbled, "But he might be with Sock?"

You glanced up and saw that Shy was struggling to say something that was on his mind but you figured he was trying to figure out how to say 'just us'. So, you said, "Just us, then?"

The barely audible sigh if relief was all the confirmation you needed.

The bell rang then.

"Umm, here," You quickly took a pen out of your pocket- just in case you actually ended up needing one- and jotted down your number on a napkin. "call me sometime so I can get your number and we can work out a time together, okay? See you in class, Shy!"

And you took off at a fast walk so you weren't late.
