The light of my life(book1)

Amity POV

I continue running my hand through Luz's hair even after after she had fallen asleep. I picked up an Azura book and began reading to myself while playing with Luz's hair. I heard my hideout door open and my sister came in. She had a small smile on her face.

"Hey sis. Awww Luz is so cute when she's asleep. Isn't she Amity?" Emira asks a sly smirk on her face. I feel my face go a tad bit red as I nod in response. Em smiles before setting down 2 lunch bags on my desk.

"I'll tell willow and Gus to meet you and Luz at the Owl house. Bye mittens make sure you actually eat this time." Em says planting a small kiss on my forehead before placing another kiss on Luz's forehead. She walks to my door and closes it behind her. I look down at Luz and wonder if she's even comfortable like that. I slowly and quietly slip away from Luz and place her head gently on a cushion. Still running my hand through her hair. It sorta got longer from the last time. I picked my book back up and waited for Luz to wake up.

"Amity? Oh cramity! What time is it?" Luz says shooting up from the couch irritating her wounds. I stand up and walk to my desk and grab the lunch bags.

"It's only been about 2 hours maybe. Em brought us lunch." I hand the Latina her lunch before sitting down next to her. She must have been very hungry because she ate it in less than 5 mins. I wasn't really hungry so I gave her mine. Sorry Em.

"Em is going to tell willow and Gus to meet us at the owl house." I say getting up and offering my hand to Luz. She takes it with a smile before we exit the room. We walked the entire way to the owl house our fingers intertwined. I didn't really mind it though. I love the feeling of Luz's hand in mind. I didn't notice I was staring at our hands until Luz pulled her hand away.

"I'm so sorry if you don't want to hold my hand." Luz says her face red in embarrassment. I take her hand again," I don't mind I kinda like it you know?" I looked at a random stand. Thinking Luz has looked away from me I turned to look at her. Turns out she was still looking at me.

"Why are you so freaking cute?" Luz whispers adoration in her eyes. I feel my face flush at the comment. I quickly think of something to say back,"well I should be the one asking that question. It's almost impossible for you to stop being cute." Luz's face flushes red. I smirk in victory.

"Told you that you never stop being cute." I begin walking towards the path to the Owl house I hear Luz run behind me trying to keep up with me. Once Luz is at my side again I take her hand in mine.

"Willow! Gus!" Luz waves at them before running up to them dragging me behind her. Willow smiles when she sees Luz but her eyes wander over to me and the smile fades. I bow my head in shame.

"Where were you Luz? You skipped school again." Willow asked bringing her attention to her best friend. She leans over and whispers something to Luz. Luz's smile fades and she drops my hand and crosses her arms over her chest.

"Anyway I was resting I had a little run in with Boscha and thankful Amity was there to help me." Luz says glancing at me before looking back at Willow with a semi-disappointing look. I start fidgeting with my hands feeling Willow's gaze on me. Eda walked out of the house and notice how uncomfortable Willow was making me.

"Hey Amity come here." Eda waves me over. I do as I'm told and follow Eda. She leads me to a cliff and sits under a tree patting the spot next to her. I nervously sit next to Eda and try to avoid making eye contact with the most powerful witch on the boiling isles. In doing so I see Luz doing something goofy trying to get a laugh from both Willow and Augustus.

"Don't let that her stop you from getting closer to Luz. I know that look you giver her that's the 'I'm in love' look. Just make sure you tell her soon before someone else does. you make her pretty happy she even got Owlbert to send a letter to you." Eda says chuckling a little when Luz did something funny but stupid. I feel the need to tell her what happened at the school earlier. I turn to look at Luz who had fallen on her stomach she stayed on the floor a little with a pained expression. I almost stood up about to go help her, but Eda grabbed my hand.

"What happened?" Eda asks worry laced in her voice. Luz glances at me and sees our worried expression before giving us a thumbs up. I sigh,"Boscha tried to beat her up. She got a few hits on her. I wish I had gotten there in time. She has a fist shaped burn on her stomach. We skipped school so she could rest. If I had gotten there in time she wouldn't have gotten hurt." I look at my hands in shame. Eda puts her hand on my shoulder.

"Thank you for trying to help Luz. That kid helped me see things from a new perspective. I don't only see her as my student now. She is more of my own child." Eda admits as she looks over to Luz again. She stands up before saying,"Make sure not to hurt her. She has taken quite a liking to you and would be upset." I get up as well.

"It would be impossible for me to do that. She means everything to me. It pains me to see her hurt even when it wasn't my fault."She ruffles my hair with an approving smile before walking toward the owl house ruffling Luz's hair on her way into the house. I look over to Luz who's smile grew bigger at just seeing me. I send her my own smile before sitting back down under the tree and looking at the sky. I hear someone walking over to me so I look back to my side.

" What happened with Boscha?" Willow asks as she sits next to me. I'm a little surprised when she sat down next to me.,"She tried beating up Luz. Luz held her own for a bit, but she ended up getting hurt." I explain I open my mouth to say something else but willow beats me to it.

"And you did nothing to help her!?" Willow shouts at me. I recoil back trying to explain to her that I had done something, but she didn't allow me. She went off to ramble about different things about if I was Luz's friend how come I didn't help and why would Boscha do that. I followed Eda's advice and didn't let it get to me. After all she was just worried about her best friends. I wait until she calms down to speak one more time.

"I did do something willow. I can't sit there and watch the girl I love get hurt because she was trying to help me." I whisper a small gasp escapes Willow's mouth before she shouts," Your in love with-!" I cut her off by covering her mouth with my hand.

"Shhhh! Don't shout it out I'm not telling her yet. so when I take my hand away you better not over react." I say pulling my hand away from her mouth. She looks as if she has a million questions.

"You likes Luz? Wait Luz said that you wanted to talk to me? Why?" She asks crossing her arms over her chest. ,"I wanted to become you friend again." I say in a small voice. I probably shouldn't have said anything.

"After you left me for people who aren't actually friends. After you made fun of me. yeah like I would be your friend." Willow shouts at me. Well shit.
