'I wonder what he's going to say when he sees me.' I heard Jacob's thoughts as we rounded the corner and the high school came into view. 'Or hears me. How bout it bloodsucker? Are you eavesdropping?' I gritted my teeth as I pulled into my usual parking spot. Bella was staring out the window in a daze, and I knew she was somewhere else.

"Stay here please?" I asked gently. I got out of the car before she could ask or argue, already knowing she was going to follow despite my request. I sighed as I heard her door open and close behind me. Of course.

I strode up to the wolf leaning against his black bike. He was wearing a set of fitted black jeans and a grey v neck shirt that showed off every muscle, and his typical combat boots. I growled as we approached.

"Can we help you with something?" I asked petulantly.

Well you can't, but Bella can. I wouldn't be here to see you even if you were the last person on earth. I rolled my eyes and he grinned wider, knowing I was listening. She'll choose me you know. She's not stupid, she knows what's best for her. She'll change her mind and choose me.

"Hey Bells!" He greeted her happily, ignoring me completely. I continued to bore holes into his head with my glare.

"Hey Jake! What are you doing here?" She asked as she stepped forward and into his arms.

"Shouldn't you be in class?" I gritted through my teeth as he stared at me over her shoulder again. I hated it when she let him put his paws all over her.

He shrugged nonchalantly as he released Bella. "Thought I'd come see my best friend instead of going to first period," he answered easily, giving Bella a wink. Can't stay away from the girl I love. He thought. He met my eyes again. And she loves me too.

I couldn't argue that. I knew that she loved him. She didn't know it herself yet, but she did. God, I hoped she never figured it out.

"Jake! I don't want Billy to get mad at me!" Bella exclaimed, swatting him on the arm. At least her touch wasn't lingering- like his always was.

"Oh relax, he knows I'm here," Jacob answered with one of his incredible smiles. Incredible smiles? When did I start thinking like that? I wanted to smack myself. I knew the stupid wolf was good looking, but I had never really thought it like that before.

Bella smiled back at him. "Well I've got class, and I'm not as much of a badass as you- so you're SOL," she said playfully.

He pulled out the puppy eyes and I almost gave in myself. I'm not sure exactly what it is I might have been giving in to, but I would do it. They worked their magic on Bella too- as always.

"Aw, come on Bella! Come for a ride with me!" He begged, pouting his lip.

She sighed heavily, but there was a smile on her face. "Fine," she groaned, feigning disinterest. I frowned at her response, and Jacob's smile got so big I thought it might break his face.

Ha! Take that Cullen. My head snapped to him again and I took an angry step forward. Bella was in front of me in a second. She'll have her arms wrapped around me nice and tight, her body up against mine- I cut the listening out there.

"You little-," I was considering pushing past Bella so that I could break the little dogs face.

"Edward!" Bella shouted. "Be nice."

I looked at her in disbelief. I hated when the wolf used my gift against me. He could throw as many insults as he wanted and she would never know. I was always the bad guy, the one getting angry.
