Ivy looked at him in confusion before he nodded to something behind them. She turned her head and more tears appeared; she felt a sob want to escape her throat. She looked at Minho to make sure what she was seeing was real. When he nodded, tears fell from her eyes. She had to cover her mouth to prevent the sobs from escaping.
Newt walked up to her, giving her a gentle smile. When he was within arms length, he pulled her into him. Ivy buried her face into his chest, crying as Newt held her. She felt him lightly kiss her head.
"This can't be real," Ivy said.
"It may not be real right now, Ivy, but it will be. We will be together again. We may not know when, but it will happen. I'll be bloody d*mned if I never see you again."
Ivy chuckled a little and pulled away so she could look at the two boys.
"I miss you both so much."
"We miss you too, Ivy," Minho said.
"It's going to be okay," Newt added. "Everything will be okay in the end."
Ivy stirred as the dream ended. She blinked several times to clear the drowsiness and fog away from her mind, along with the tears from her eyes. As she sat up, she noticed that Nicole was sleeping on the opposite side of the Berg, her arms under her head. Ivy couldn't help but smile a little bit; she knew that Nicole hadn't slept much in the last few days and was in desperate need to rest.
Moving quietly, Ivy sat up and walked to where Isaac was so she wouldn't disturb her friend. Isaac glanced back at her, giving her a nod in greeting.
"How long was I asleep?" she asked.
"Several hours. It's almost noon now."
"Are you serious?"
"Take a look outside."
She stared out the front windshield. The sun was shining, illuminating the Scorch before them. Buildings were half collapsed and destroyed and everything looked to be covered in sand. Ivy seated herself in the chair beside Isaac, amazed by what she was seeing.
"How did you sleep?" Isaac questioned. "You look like you've been crying."
"I slept well enough. It was just a dream. I saw my brother. The rest was needed, that's for sure." She paused before asking, "How long have you been flying?"
"Since we got out."
"Don't you need a break?"
"I'm fine. I'm used to late hours."
"Even you deserve a break though."
"I will eventually. Besides, we have no one else who knows how to fly one of these."
"You could teach me. I've had my sleep and you need a break."
Isaac looked at her with a curious look.
"You're sure?"
"Of course! I don't want you wearing yourself out because you've been doing this for so long. Plus I don't want you falling asleep and crashing the Berg."
Isaac laughed lightly at her words.
"Alright." He pressed a button in front of him, turning on the autopilot. Ivy paused and gave him a look, crossing her arms over her chest in disbelief. "What?"
"You are jacked. You could have been using the autopilot and sleeping by now!"
"I prefer being the one in charge of where I'm going. So are you going to get in the seat?"
