Chapter 8: stories.

Rosie couldn't help but watch the flames dance around each other on the fireplace, for some reason it had her in a trance and she had time to think.

The trance was broken however as someone took the seat next to her, and Rosie turned to give a look of confusion to Remus Lupin who sat down sheepishly.

"Hi"He said quietly, almost so quiet that she didn't hear him.

"Hi" she repeated his phrase before turning her head to stare at the fire again.

"You know, you're the complete opposite of your mother" He noted, "you're always calm and collected whilst she was a right trickster, always wanting a good laugh or prank"

"Really?" Rosie asked, peering with interest.

"I didn't really see anything other than appearance in similarity until last night" He informed, and she titled her head in confusion. "When you snapped at the everyone and stated that even if you didn't have permission you were going to help a friend, I guess you and your mother have bravery and friendship in common"

"I don't really think about my parents..." she frowned as she glanced at the fire and back at Remus. "It hurts to think about it"

"I know it hurts" he half-coos, "but aren't you curious as to who your parents were, before everything?"

"I suppose" she shrugged from her folded up position.

"Alright, I'll start off easy, your mum was best friends with Lily Evans and Melanie Avichii" He stated, and she nodded. "Your father was friends with; Regulus Black, Severus Snape and Samual Nott."

"All death eaters" Rosie Chimed in glumly.

"They weren't always, some didn't even want to be death eaters" Remus corrected her statement, "where was I? Oh yes, how about how much James Potter and your mum always argued, sometimes even worse than him and Lily. They drive me crazy with their arguments! We even had to get a teacher take them apart once"

"Did you guys get into a lot of trouble?" She asked.

"Yes, loads and loads of trouble, sometimes for things that others did because we were framed as the trouble makers" Remus quickly explained, a smile on his face as he described his youth.

"Do I have any godparents?" Rosie asked, and he gave her a weird look. "I-I can see everyone's past, present and future but my own, I cannot, I also can't see my parents...but I think that's about something different"

Remus nodded, "your father could see the future, but here you are being the opposite of him too, using it for good instead of bad"

"I guess I have nothing in common with them, other than the fact I defend my friends" Rosie half-joked, but there was a painful thickness to her voice.

The reason she had never asked herself any questions was because she didn't want to disappoint herself or her mother.

"I suppose in some ways you are different, but you do have your mothers eyes...she had the same bright blue eyes. And you may not want to admit it, but when you smile, others can't help but feel happy too" Remus softly said and Rosie's features softened at his words.

"Thanks Remus" she smiled up at him, feeling better about her mother already. "You didn't answer my question though, who are my godparents? If I have any.."

Remus grinned at her familiar curiosity and replied: "Lily and I are your godparents"

"Lily..." Rosie softly said as she turned her face back to the fire, "thanks for being there for me Remus, sorry if I sound grumpy. I'm not used to having a family"

She then turned her full attention to the fire again as she left Remus looking star struck, before a look of sadness crosses his face.
