-For those of you who want to know more about the past, here you go! All those little flashbacks leave some gaps, don't they? This chapter with fill some of those gaps.
ALSO, this chapter has one of the weird parts I have been MOST worried about, so, please let me know if it's too much or not! The portion I'm talking about is during Hiccup's memory, just so you know.
This is the chapter I was talking about when I said I wanted you to question the characters' morals. So, it'll definitely be unusual!
Enjoy!

Nearly two more moon cycles passed, and it was freezing. The snow was piled high around us, and when we woke up-
"Stay away from there!" I shouted with fear, making daughter and son skid to a stop inches from their death. I took a shaky breath and sat down, my heart pounding in my chest. "Come back here, now." They drooped as they slowly walked back to me, barely visible in the light coming from our scales.
Vaskr didn't meet my gaze as he stopped at my paws, looking down at the ground. "Sorry, Mom..." He apologized, "I just want to know what it is..." Aurora said nothing, standing by his side and shivering heavily. She no longer needed to be held in Hiccup's jaws, but she still had difficulty with the cold.
"Aurora, you're getting cold..." I crooned, reaching down and grabbing her scruff before pulling her into my warm wings, keeping her close to my chest where I released the most heat. There was a muffled 'thank you' as she slowly started to warm up. She knew now that there wasn't any shame in her problems with the cold, no longer complaining when we forced her to get warm.
I forgot they don't know what snow is...
I turned my gaze to Vaskr with a relieved sigh. "Vaskr..." He hesitantly looked up, looking saddened and confused at the same time, not knowing what he did wrong. "You're not in trouble." I smiled and he relaxed. "Just don't go running toward the unknown. That white stuff is very dangerous for us!"
"What is it?" He asked with a hint a fear, looking over his shoulder at the wall of snow. During the day, it had apparently snowed a lot, leaving a large wall of snow blocking our entrance, a small gap at the very top of the wall thankfully let air inside. I didn't want to find out if that entrance was our only air source.
"It's called snow, and it's very dangerous," I spoke with a warning in my tone, making him flinch. I sighed, knowing something that would make sure he remembered. "...it's solid water." Vaskr recoiled and whined at that one word, quickly scooting closer to me and away from the entrance fearfully. "Do you now understand why I had to yell?"
He nodded his head shakily, pressing fearfully against my closed wings as his body trembled from his sudden fear. "Yes! L-let m-me in! P-Please!" I opened my wings slightly and he instantly jumped inside with Aurora, wiggling so he was behind my forepaws and under my belly as I sat there. I could feel his shaking body as I closed my wings again, Aurora asking him what was wrong. "W-Water kills u-us..." He whined to her. "O-Only drink! N-No t-touching!"
I purred, glad that Vaskr was still helping her, even when he was terrified. "Snow is solid water, and water extinguishes our cores. Our scales will no longer be shiny, and when that happens, we die."
"I'm sorry!" Aurora cried, "never again! I won't do it again!" I continued to purr, knowing that what she said was the truth.
A groan followed by popping joints sounded from my left, and I smiled at Hiccup as he walked stiffly out of the egg-room with a yawn. "What's happening?" He warbled, still half asleep. "Where are the little ones?"
