Have you ever been to the beach?
Have you ever witnessed a riptide?
Riptide, undertow, whatever they call it.
I live in a riptide.
I continuously feel myself being pulled under and away,
all as I try to stay afloat with every fiber in my being.
I can't see anything,
but I feel everything.
Sometimes I can open your eyes and have a peek,
only to see the foam of the waves surrounding me.
The water hitting my eyes and leaving behind a searing pain,
and no sense of direction.
Every second I can feel myself stray further from the shore,
fighting just to stay afloat.
Really, I have no fighting chance,
I can feel the saltwater seeping into my lungs and filling them to the brim.
On my beach, there's no lifeguard on duty.
I am a victim to the beatings of Mother Nature.
Have you seen a riptide, or whatever they call it?
Please stay out of the waters.
