[Ch16] -The Results- [S1]

"Haha...But I'm sorry. She's too wounded to take the next test. And the rules say that no injured candidates can take the test." 

"Yes, under normal circumstances that would be true." 

Hansung looked at Khun, a bit confused. 

"I will go to the administrator of this floor myself, and take his test."

"...!"

Every ranker in the room looked at Khun in surprise, shocked that he knew that information.

"I heard that although supervisors carry out the tests now, the administrator has supreme authority on all tests. If I get permission from the administrator for Michelle to rejoin the group, then your rule regarding injury and failure with be void, right? So I'll take the test from the administrator, to get permission for Michelle Light to re-join the game." 

"...and how do you know all of this?"

"Well, I'm from the Khun family. I've heard a lot about the tests." 

"Then you must know why people choose not to take that test." 

"That test is too difficult compared to the floor tests. But it's ok, I'll pass."

Getting a little full of yourself there, aren't you Khun?

"Aren't you a little cocky? Sorry to say, but there's another reason as to why people don't take that test. There is a requirement to take that test." 

"What!?" 

"You must be an irregular like Jahad or Urek Mazino. Only an irregular can take that test."

...Should I say something?

"Thats..." Khun got cut off, shocked. 

"You must not know about that rule. I know. It's ancient lore, so only a few of us specifics know." 

Hansung motioned for Khun to go back to his seat. "Sorry to say that your plan won't work, Mr. Khun. Now please go back to your seat." 

"Wait!" 

Bam stood up, raising his hand. 

Is he..?

"I'll...I'll take that test!" 

"Mr. Bam, didn't you hear, to take the test you must be-"

"It doesn't matter! Because I'm...I'm.."

"I'm an irregular!" 

With Bam's announcement, everyone was shocked. 

An...irregular? Just like me... 

Hansung smiled, glad that Bam said so.

Everyone had gathered around in a circle, sitting down on the floor. 

"I knew there was something odd about Bam...But I never thought that he was an irregular..." 

Khun spoke up, looking down at the floor. 

"Um...so what's an irregular? Why are you all serious?" Narae raised her hand, not knowing what an irregular meant.

"An irregular, is not chosen by the tower-" 

I cut Shibisu off, not wanting to waste time on a long explanation.

"Basically, irregulars aren't supposed to be in the tower, and because of that, the balance of the tower is tipped. There has been a substantial amount of chaos every time an irregular entered the tower because of that, most people of the tower hate and fear irregulars." 

Shibisu glared at me, angry that I stole his thunder.

"So...what now? When Bam left, the supervisor told us that..."

-Flashback- 

"...I'm shocked as well to find out that there is an irregular amongst us. I should get some pills to ease my nerves." 

...bullsh1t.

"You should make decisions now." 

"Decisions?"

"Yes, decisions. To take the test with or without Bam. If you decide to take the test with him, than all of you will take the Administrator's Test. Even if you were to pass, then you'll be remembered as the ones who helped the irregular climb the tower." 

"I hope you choose wisely."

"...that's what he said! What should we do?" 

Paracule stood up, protesting. "Of course we shouldn't! Risking our lives just to bring that girl up the tower...no!" 

"Didn't you pass the test because of Bam?" Hatz responded, calm. 

"W-well, yeah, but still! Think about it, it'd be insane to help him, right? Don't you agree?" 

Paracule stood up, waving his hands around frantically. 

"Yeah, I agree." 

Everyone looked at the source, and lord behold, it was Khun.

"I feel sorry for Bam...but I can't help an irregular." 

Hatz walked up to Khun, angry at his response.

"Hey! You can't just do that! You...chicken!" 

Is that the best comeback you can think of? Wow.

"I don't like it either!! But I can't help an irregular!! I could get kicked out of the family for that! D4mn...if I knew he was an irregular...I wouldn't have helped him at all." 

"You...!! Coward!!" Hatz got ready to punch him, but someone beat him to it.

Rak.

Slam!

"You crocodile..." Khun laid on the floor, glaring at Rak. 

"You stupid turtles...cowering in your shells in fear. That's why you're nothing more than a turtle. You're too scared to lift your heads out."

Oh...that's the meaning of his turtle metaphor. That kind of makes sense.

"I'm following him, no matter the consequences. I'm not losing my prey."

Rak walked off, leaving us all behind. 

"You all stay, with your heads stuck in your shells." 

"I'm going too." Anaak stood up, looking at Khun. "I don't care about him, but I think it's better than staying with a cowardly traitor who would betray his friend to keep his family name." 

"I agree. Huh, we agree on something." Hatz and Anaak walked off, dragging Shibisu behind them.

"H-hey! Why are you taking me!" 

Soon, everyone left, including Endorsi. 

Even Paracule. 

Until it was just me and Khun left. 

"(Y/N)...why aren't you going?" 

I looked at Khun, no emotion in my eyes. 

"...I'll stay here."

Khun looked at me in surprise, eyes wide. "Huh?" 

"You heard me." I flopped back down on the floor next to him, tired. 

"I'm not taking an extra test. I didn't even like that Rachel girl anyways." 

"(Y/N)..."

I smirked at Khun, smug. "Besides, you can't fool me with your crappy acting."

He smirked back, sitting up. "I couldn't fool you if I wanted..." 

Khun...are you my soulmate?
